Well, since there is a thread on the 'pass' button. When should you use your horn, what is it there for?

i knew a guy who would use his to alert oncoming road users round blind bends that he is there.

of course usually there was no one coming the other way

it seems like a great idea but i cant bring myself to do it

Generally i just use it for 'you dont seem to have seen me or you wouldnt be pulling out in front of me'

they usually then look, but dont always stop pulling out in front of me

Its there to alert other road users of your presence,

however mine is pathetic, you cant hear it at high speeds so theres not a lot of point too mine.

And even at low speeds I'm to busy braking to remember it, only ever remember it once in a while when someone pulls out in front of me.

last time I used it was when some stupid cow pulled out of her drive way without looking, que heavy braking and horn, as she pulled away, I pulled up along side her, so she shut her window, I just glared and throttled off ^^,

Its also quite handy for passing mot's.

I had to do that on my car test, blast the horn when I was coming to a 1 lane humpback bridge, and and do it again when I was going over it.

But its mainly used for covering little childrens ears for when I say naughty words to other road users...

I pip my horn if riding down twisty turny bendy barely a car width country lanes too...but usually use at roundabouts & t-junctions it if my glare was ignored!

Hi

Generally only use it when wildlife decides that the road in front is a good place to frolic.

In an emergency I tend to take the view that if you have time to hit the horn then it isn't really needed.

Every time someone does something which I have a need to beep for, I'm usually too busy doing something to avoid hitting them.

The only time I can think I've ever used it is when people don't realise I've pulled up behind them when they start rolling backwards when doing a hill start.

Every time where someone has done something really stupid and I've felt like I should beep the horn, it's always after I've already prevented it becoming an accident. In that case it would just be in anger and completely pointless, other than trying to make them realise the error of their ways.

Pedestrians crossing the road at places other than pelican crossings when I'm filtering down Union Street warrant it the most, but mostly it's just a case of going slow with plenty of revs and keeping your eyes open.

I'll give it a press if I'm filtering down a dual carriageway/ motorway and, as often happens, a car in front indicates to turn across my path.

Also use it to express dissatisfaction/ remonstrate with other road users Tip for new riders - do not select this option in your theory test

I have a few ways i blow the horn(on my bike)
It s beep if someone is at the lights and doesn't know its gone green,thats
if they are in my way. Or if over taking in the middle in traffic and someone is on the phone and doesn't see me.
Its two beep to get someone to look so you can let them know you intend to do a maneuver that affects them.Or to point at there lights that are not on The rest just last the Length of time my curse words do.
