Right...

I'd like to become Fitter, Stronger and have more Energy during the day.

I think that if I improve my diet, do gym-type exercise in my room and perhaps increase my cycling, I can achieve this.

Can anyone recomend any books or websites which have suggestions or guides either to diets or some sort of exercise reigeme? Anyone have any suggestions of their own?

I currently cycle to and from Uni every day, and do quite a bit of physical labour when I am there. (I'm building sets for Theatre at the moment)

Cheers,

Craig

healthy balanced diet. cut down on meat though as its bad for you, eat more fruit, veg and drink fruit juices. eat more organic stuff and stay away from hydrogenated fats.
a good 8 hours in the sack every night.
no binge drinking.
excercise doesnt have to be strenuous gym workouts, cardivascular stuff can be cycling as you are or walking. I would stick to cycling, very very good excercise indeed.

best of luck.

If you can't summon up the energy now, you've got bugger all to get healthy for.

Eat shitloads of bad shit, drink massive amounts of beer, wine & shorts, smoke tabs and generally party all night.

Or follow the puffy-boy healthy routine and die of fuck all.

Cheers,

Byrnie.

Meat is actually good for you.

I would say cut down on the carbohydrates like bread, pasta and rice etc... and also use normal butter (dairy) rather than stuff like flora which is made using vegetable oils, which are bad for you (our bodies find it hard to break them down....animal fat is more natural and would be better).

Obviously try an eat fruit and veg with your meals as well and make sure you drink lots of water, rather than fizzy stuff.

Never a truer word typed, that BMI link was wrong in what it was saying. It told me i had a BMI of 24 and that was unhealthy. According to all the NHS BMI charts my BMI is 23 and I am perfectly within healthy regions.

Anyway life too short to worry about your weight as long as you still fit into your leathers (or can still buy ones that will fit) whats the problem Twisted Evil

Then you'd be wrong.
Emphasis is on balance, so you can have most things in moderation.

If you're exercising in the evenings then eat carbs (pasta, rice, etc.) at lunch. It's slow release energy and is better for you. Don't, as I once did before being educated, go to the gym then have pasta afterwards. You're not doing anything to burn it off.

You also need to have a mix of protein. So meat is required, unless you go veggie and go for nuts.

Actually a handful of nuts after a workout helps with recovery.

Partner is a specialist on an eating disorders unit, so this advice comes from a valid source Thumbs Up

True. If BMI was all you went on then all the England World Cup winning rugby side would be classed as obese.

You need to look holostically at the whole person. Taking one set of measurements out of context is dangerous.

And yet a lot of companies that require medicals are relying on BMI and only check properly if its really obviously wrong.

A the moment I am going to the gym 3-4 times a week and doing 30 minutes of cardio and about 20 minutes of weight training. It's all working, having a little muscle development. But I can't lose my belly, why? Cause I still eat and drink too much. But i'm physically fitter than I was when I was skinny. So I am not worrying too much. Smile

Alcohol is my biggest downfall when it comes to trying to loose weight. I go running and eat healthily (except for the odd occasions when I splurge - last weekend's chips, pizza and large quantities of ketchup aren't the norm) which means I can have a glass of wine with my dinner and I can have a few pints at the weekend.

As map said, balance is everything. A little of everything will do you no harm - and that includes fats, alcohol, sugar and carbohydrates. Thumbs Up

If you put too much fluid into the body at the one time it causes your blood preasure to rise, so get your bp back down the kidney's start working harded to flush out the extra fluid in your body causing you to need the loo more often. Best way is todrink plenty of water over a longer period of time.
