 |
|
hey Guys just a quick question for those of you with knowlage of the NSR front wheel, she's an 02 NSR125R with 30+K miles on it the bearings are origional on it,
yesterday the front wheel began to get skittish as if its run over a small pebble or got somthing stuck in the tread, this morning after riding it again this 'knock' or 'kick' was more pronounced on left turns, I have put it up on a front paddock stand and there is about 0.5 - 1 mm of play latteraly on the wheel, i have tightened the forks to make sure it wasn't a loose spindal and that had no effect, the wheel also began to squeek on another ride out so i know the bearings are on their way out,
the question is, i know i can knock them out with a punch but what side am i knocking from? do i want to be going in from the disk side? (i know the speedo bracket plate is there to turn the spedo so i presume thats fixed to the rim.
any advice on removing these bearings will be great ____________________ A scientist crossed a skunk with an owl. He's got a bird that smells but doesn't give a hoot |

cheers Paddy
im using a socket as a punch the same size as the inside ring, they are prooving to be a right pair of bastards to move, the dust seal on the non-speedo side is mince meat now i cant get it to shift and the screw driver has chewed it up i think its needs replacing anyway as it seems in bad shape
im hammering like mad with the sets of bearings and im getting very little play from them.
so its a case of just whack the hell out of the opposite side till the bugger drops out then work away on the other side?
thanks again
,goes back to workshop and gets hammer out...again.. ) ____________________ A scientist crossed a skunk with an owl. He's got a bird that smells but doesn't give a hoot |

thanks for the advise so far as i can tell at the moment they are comming out in equal amounts.
Is it normal to hammer the hell out of them to get them to budge? i have checked my bikes maintenance reccords since it was bought and there is no reccord of the bearings ever being replaced, i got the seal off the suspect bearing and half the train was missing I only had 9 bearings left in there, there others were long slithers of metal
am i best off to just forcefully remove the rubber dust deal on the non-speedo side... its shagged anyway.. i am just wondering if there is a particular technique to getting it out ____________________ A scientist crossed a skunk with an owl. He's got a bird that smells but doesn't give a hoot |
