So who's had a collision with a DEER then?

Alright folks,
newbie to BCF here
Ok, back in february, whilst out for a late night blast at 1am,
riding my Runner 125SP.
A lovely little deer decided it would be fun to jump out on me, whilst i was doing 40mph.

Needless to say i went straight over the bars,
fractured both my hands and i'm STILL waiting surgery on my knee.

The Runner faired really well, broke a few panels, and destroyed my mudguard.

Question is,
anybody else hit a deer
I've only heard of it a few times so be good to know.

not me,but an undermanager when I was working out in the Selby coalfield 20 years ago hit a deer in his car.

The deer rolled up the bonnet and through the screen and decapitated him,so even though you have my sympathy mate,you got off relatively lightly.

Again not me but my friend's sr125 got into a fight with a deer, the deer came off worse

My brother came across a guy on the Spittal of Glenshee road late one night who had hit a red deer at speed on his K-series BMW. He was in pretty bad shape with a complex fracture of his arm (bones sticking out). The bike was barely recognisable, the deer was in two bits on opposite sides of the road.

What you need is a deer whistle. Makes an inaudible (to humans) whistling noise as you ride along which makes deer (and other animals) stop in their tracks and listen instead of jumping across the road in front of you. They are fitted to all forestry comission vehicles. I keep meaning to get one, I will next time I'm up in the Highlands.

I'm assured that they DO work, apparently the forestry comission saved themselves thousands of pounds in damaged vehicles after they fitted them.

I would never want to hit a deer in the middle of nowhere (no vets out there). If it doesn't die in the collision, then it will be in terrible pain. I can't just leave it to suffer and I would have to put it out of it's misery by killing it somehow (suffocation?). Anyway, it is something that I never want to do to an animal.

Back in the days when I had a CG and used to ride to work through the country I was once attacked by a kamikaze squirrel. As I was riding along something whacked my leg. Looked in the mirror and there is this squirrel rolling along the road, it got up and looked rather dazed and confused. He must have misjudged his leap off the wall - see - not only car drivers miss bikes!

Brother and his family went on Holiday to Scotland several years ago. Driving along (in the car) one of those scenic, long roads that seem to go on forever in the highlands they see a stag in the distance. Brother says to his missus "would you look at that, what a beautiful animal, look it's started to run...." And it did. Straight thefuk at them. He tried to veer away but it checked itself and hit the car head on. Result? car written off, in a ditch, air bags deployed, the lot.
Oh and a very very dead stag.
They've never been back

I'd hered of them but being fitted to police cars for some reason??

I've had close calls before, the driveing lamps seem to keep them from decideing to actually launch themselfs at me (till now)

But think i might invest in one
