Nintendo DS/Lite? Confuzzled

Hi all young trendy people

I am a mum, and I feel a bit, well, old
I am buying a Nintendo DS for my daughter for xmas (supposedly)

Anyways.. is a DS Lite better than just a normal DS thing?
I know it is smaller, yes? Is that better?

She would like a pink one I think, and has her heart set on a Nintendogs game also
I know you can get packages (seen them in a shop about town)
Thing is...all the shops tell me their deal is the best, I search on the net and come up with hundreds of different things, all saying they are good deals, but I don't know who/what to trust/go with.

It is just SO confusing which is the best deal. i feel like an old woman bombarded with info!
I am so not 'with it'

Any help v much appreciated
I don't want to get to a week before xmas with no present

Gamestation's deal is best, DS Lite and ANY game for £109...

I bought m DS blue with nintendgos last year for £99 from comet.
Was cheapest around (bar currys but they were outta stock)

The Lite is lighter with better screen backlighting ( I think) and battery life.

Look on play.com for games, they cheap new on there.

Or ebay for games that arn't out in UK yet.
Got my brother Age Of Empires in July for his Birthday, it's only just out in the UK.

Buy a psp, even if the sound you get from it is not far off a whisper.

The DS is boring, awkward and the games are lacking in the fun factor.

Had one, had a psp, sold both, neither really worth having, but the psp is FAR superior to the DS.
