Last year I attended my partners anual Police ball.
Some meal in a posh hotel. I got drunk as useal and our wallets went missing.
Iroinic they go missing at a police bash.
Anyhow, I kicked off making a pratt of myself and left. Cant remember much. Wallets were found in the toilets the next day.
I know I didnt loose them in there as they were in the coats.
Took me a few weeks to be able to go to a few other 'do's and show my face. After that night I just get the odd 'hello' from the sergents but nothing like befor. Embarassed
Its time again to do the Police mans ball on Dec 12th.
I want to go for Kat. Were having the normal r/ship problems and I want to show I care and that its worth carrying on.
However, I just dont know if I can go and sit wondering what everyone else is thinking.
I only get on with a few, the rest are snobby up there own arse type people.
Advice? Do I go and sit it out and only have a few pints? Stay completly sober? Or say some crap excuse not to go!

That happened a year ago.
Why are you still worrying about it now?

Life's too short.

Go and enjoy yourself
... or don't.

If you feel uncomfortable with some of the people ... its sometimes easier to poke fun at yourself in front of them to break the ice. That way they think you're holding no grudges about what happened last year, and that you're there to enjoy yourself and have a better time this year.

Go. Grin and bear it in the knowledge that you're making someone else happy, it may make the party more bearable.

And don't get shanted this year - stick to just a few pints! Thumbs Up

If it was me:

I'd go again, and get EVEN more bladdered than the last time, and I'd leve the wallet at home and just take a bundle of notes in the pocket Wink

Oh and I'd stay in there making as big a fool of myself for as long as I could, before the police get called and drag me out. The next morning I'd wake up, wipe the vomit off my face then crawl to work to earn a couple of ££. When I got to work I'd realise that I still had my beer/vomit/urine stained clothes from the previous night on Embarassed

If you are female then yes, go along as you will get lots of attention from the male audience.

If you are male then most people will look across and say "what a right nob!" Laughing
