My stepson's mate has just bought a CBR400 gull-arm. It's obviously an ex-race bike as it has 6-pot Brembos, flatsides and the bodywork is fixed on with cable-ties but it comes with a logbook so can go back on the road. Been sat in a guy's garage for 3 years and apparently the engine is sweet as a nut.

£170

I hate him Very Happy

thats the one reason why i didn't buy a dt 125...except they were about 2700 in my local bike shop with free TP insurance....but still, i went for a bike a bit more comfy and a lot more reliable for 2200

3K for a DT125?? You do know you can get a 2004 R6, Ninja, RR, GSX for that sort of money?

That would of paid for you're test & got you a lovely VFR with left over for gear & fancy stuff.

I don't know where you are looking but you certainly can't get a 2004 model R6, Ninja, RR, GSXR for £3000 here in the midlands. Add the best part of another grand to it and you might stand a chance of getting a bike of that age and that model, but don't expect it to be the finest example of a 100% looked after bike.

£2900 for a mint condition 03 636 Ninja (red model)

I also got a bit of a good deal this week I got a Daelim 125 daystar (02 plate)
the cost to me was a computer but as I'm in the IT sector I get really good prices
all in it cost under £500 and I came with a spare engine

Yup, dealers won't pay more then £3500 for a mint Ninja with over 10k. There losing value every year, can easily pick them up for around £3k.

I got my mint 2003 (Reg 04) loads of extras, datatag, datatool sys3, all papers, fully serviced, brand new tyres for £3,300. Few days later there was a black on for sale for the same price.

Was looking on Biketrader & there's a few R6's for around £3200-+

So why the hell would you let you're rents but you a 125 when you can have a like new supersport. Smile

my point is that 17 year olds can't afford to buy,run and insure a 06 gsxr1000 if they are not living with there parents and live in a house on thier own.

unless they have very good income.

i myself earn 30k a year at 35 years old and can afford to pay the mortgage on my house and the bills and run my bike on my own.

that is my point.
