Ok I've taken the slow route , ie ridden hacks and general other assorted pieces of crap , like NTVs GT550s GT750s(awful), CB500s , Xj600s , SR125 , CG125, gained a ton of experience and

I'm approaching my 4th year of riding , and I'm wanting for something more , more beef better handling ,before bikes are banned or something.

I think I can push the bike no farther and don't wanna Joey Dunlop ie push it till I end up in A&E, this was made apparent by my hero blobs being worn down a bit more after this weekend and also when I was completely and utterly owned by John C which is no surprise! since hes a v good rider. current bike will be relgated to commuter.

My NC30 search hasn't turned much up, such that here is your brief :

wanted

Arrow 400cc-750 sports

Arrow NOT an SV

Arrow<£2750 cheaper the better! (damn my mental
conditioning!) + £up to £500 for ins

Arrow uncomfortable as humanly possible

Arrow used for weekend play time only cept when I break the NTV
handles well

Arrow has rewarding handling charactoristics ie it is not forgiving or easy going like CBRs

Arrow top end ie 110+ MPH performance is unecessary well not yet anyway

Arrow does not have to be faired, hence if there is a beefy naked bike that handles v well (other than triumph)

my thoughts are 2001 636? , R6 ? , CBR600 ? Thundercat? , FZR1000? (minter £900).

any suggestions?

Ta

Yamaha TRX 850's are cheap cheerful and have 80 odd bhp, rumoured to have fantastic handling. Or of course there IS the 636 A1, which looks like a J

The TRX is certainly a fun bike to ride, with loads of character. It handles really well, but will let you know if you don't do something quite right!

It's pushing about 76bhp, a parallel twin with a 270 degree crank, which gives it a distinctive V-twin feel.

I've had mine on the road for about 18 months and I absolutely love it. There are some cheap examples to be had, too.

Some maths lessons? Razz

if you CAN stretch to a litre bike, then it opens up a whole host of options.

That being said, if you're looking for a largy, grunty naked bike, with decent styling and amazing handling, then check out the Ducati Monsters. Not too bad for the money now, and with a headlight screen on, they aren't too bad for wind protection.

ZXR750.

Cheap, quick, sporty.

Bingo bango.

(Maybe an FZR600, deceivingly fast for their age, and again cheap.)
Both are right down in your budget though.

My vote would be with whichever jap IL4 you prefer the looks of.

An SV is not a sports bike, It's about time people on here realised that it's a budget bike. Rolling Eyes

Go for the FZR1000 if it's an RU, they are a phenomenal machine (mine was the primary cause of me loosing my licence Embarassed ) i would have another if I had more restraint.

Correct, but that doesn't stop me overtaking 1ltr sports bikes on the Yorkshire TT with mine - it's quite satisfying knowing they have just been owned by a budget bike Wink

I agree extreme, I've always said it's not what you ride it's the way that you ride it. Which is why I am regularly found embarrassing the latest GSXZXYZFRRR on my weedy 250 Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sounds like you want an Italian sports bike. A red one. You poor fool.

You'd get a Ducati 750SS or an earlier Laverda 750s for that sort of money, maybe even a 900ss. It'll break your heart.

1 Litre bikes fair enough, what configuration though? IL4 or V twin? And either way, they're probably not trying if they can't keep up/beat you! Razz

I'm with Gaz, go with the Jap IL4 you most like the look of, and i like ram's suggestion of the A1 636 they're really nice machines Thumbs Up
