They both seem to have decent specs, So I cant see why not really.

Try taking a look at Dell, My sister has just bought a Dell laptop for £550 or somthing. Comes with the 3 years warranty or whatever they offer.

They are delivered in about 2 or 3 working days.

I was impressed. Thumbs Up

64x2 is a dual processor

Dual-core technology is like having two processors, and two working together is better and faster than one working alone

Scan are good but you do know they're a wholesaler not a shop don't you? You can't go and have a look at what they have even though you can order it and collect in person if you want.

For what you want I'd probably go to (don't laugh) Tesco and buy something like this https://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-9329.aspx for the cheaper-but-still-meeting-requirements onr, or if you want to spend around £600 this one https://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-8758.aspx

Right so people say was out of them two.

Do i got for the dual core one AMD64 X2 but by the looks of it has no decent sort of gfx chipset or the normal AMD 64 which has 256 mb worth of graphics card.

Or do pay £100 more and get one with dual core and a 128mb gfx chip.

Tesco ones look good, but do they do buy now pay 3 thousand years later?

I got scammed by them a few years back , actually many years back , I said 64mb , they put in 32mb , I complained they say I'd taken out the chips I hadn't, and this set a huge downward slide with me and them,

Why do you need mega graphics if you're mostly going to use it for music? Confused I would have thought that the faster processor, size of hdd and amount of memory would be the deciding factors and the graphics capability would be largely irrelevant.

Don't think Tescos do computers on HP but they do loans and credit cards........

Try looking a bit harder. Also try the outlet part of the site as its cheaper https://www1.euro.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=uk&cs=&l=en&s=dfh&~ck=anavml

I'm also thinking of buying a Laptop to record my radio shows on to, from vinyl via a mixer. I looked at the Dells, but they don't have 'Line-In' only 'Mic-In' and in my experience when you plug a external device (in my case MiniDisc) into Mic-In you can get a lot of distortion. I am looking for one with a good soundcard, and a 'Line-In' and I reckon you'd need the same...

If you want a propper setup (not something thats being bastardised into doing an "ok" job) you need a rackmouted pc case (£200 last time i was looking should be able to get cheeper) and some sort of flightcase thing for it to go in.. tft screens are cheap enough and the whole lot isn't that heavy and will outlast a laptop (in time and physically) you can also fit a decent soundcard which will be a huge factor.. (thats what i'd do anyway Razz )

headlamp- soundblaster had a usb soundcard which was supposedly very very good, certainly a shat load better than a standard on board soundcard of any sort, suspect they are much better now..

I just got a HP laptop from Staples for £500. Turion 64, 1gb ram, 80gb hdd (I think), DVD r/rw, xbrite style widescreen.

Doubt you'll get much more for the money.

Rick.

As Itchy says - never buy from Scan....they are, for want of a better description, utterly useless!!

Its not just me they scammed, had mates that have been scammed too...eg - bought a motherboard which was faulty, sent back to scan and they sent the SAME one back to us as a new board, then refused to take that one back as 'we'd already had one replacement'...plus numerous other rubbish too boring and geeky to mention.

ebuyer.com have a load of decent laptops, as do dabs.com

Even Dells aren't bad these days!

A.

Never really used an Apple machine, so wouldnt know where to start Laughing

Fucked the Scan idea right off after Itchy and ali B said.

Its a toss up at the moment between one Babyam posted from the Novateach website and a Toshiba one ive seen on pc world website which is similar specced and priced bar it having an Intel Processor as opposed to a AMD one.

I don't suggest PC which has sony lithium battery inside. They burn.
But it's hard to know it cause battery case doesn't have any logo of sony.
