Now why the feck don't the British Government pay for something similar in this country instead of funding a crappy advert that's shown three times a year at 3.00am?

It's like establishing a brand...if people see a brand name everywhere they quickly absorb it and identify it as a brand leader and so awareness is massively raised.

If every biker who owned a car had a sticker in the window saying 'Think Bike' and billboards at the side of every major road said the same message, people would absorb the message in the same way they absorb the Nescafe adverts...ask anyone to name a brand of coffee and they'll pretty much say Nescafe...it's all due to brand awareness and marketing achieves that.

It's no bleeding good putting tiny signs next to roads saying 'Biker Beware'....most bikers I'm guessing are only to well aware of the dangers. Target the feckin' car drivers by bombarding them with the message. It will work.

Not strictly true. You are right in saying that people will not consciously notice them after a while, but the continued presence of such adverts works on the brain on a subconscious level. You may tune out to TV adverts or billboards or logos on products in a supermarket or adverts in a paper or on the radio or on the bus or by bus shelters but when asked to name a brand of cola you wouldn't say 'Panda' as your first choice.

Your mind is less robust than you think.

Brand leaders spend billions on advertising. Why would they if it doesn't work?

You may tune out to the omni-present red and white logo, but you'd name Coke.

Lets be fair, the majority of car drivers simply go around in their own hazy bubble, and no matter what you do they will never learn. I see poor driving every single day and no-body ever seems to be able to do even the simplest of things correctly. When you get people who have no idea of road positioning, signalling or parking skill then you are flogging a dead horse.
