Anyone imported a bike before ???

Basically im buying a CBR900RR from my step dad. He lives in Guernsey, so it will be imported.

Now has anyone imported a bike before ?

I know i need an SVA test because Guernsey is not part of the European Union & i also know that i need to fill out a V55/5 (for used vehicles) form.

If anyone has imported a bike before i'd be grateful if you would let me pick your brain. So i can see if im going about things right, how long it took you ect, ect, ect.

My dad imported a car from cyprus before it was in the EU

We bought the car in July, it came by boat (£500 shipping fee) It was then at dock for a month or so while paper work was sorted, was in the garage in November. It's an X reg so this was 2001.


not a bike I know, it was new so the dealer did all the arrangements for shipping etc and Nissan uk sorted the rest

was wondering how long it would take

the dvla website says it needs a cerificate of insurance before registration is completed, but if it isn't a registered bike i dont think i can insure it.

Going to ring the dvla tomorrow but thought i'd ask here if im going about it the right way

We had the truck her ein our garage unregistered, was delivered on trade plates. (was dissapointed wanted to see the odometer as 000000)

we didnt get it otr until nearly Jan, had it a month before plates,v5 and insurance were sorted.

Am going to ring the DVLA tomorrow and get all the information and forms sorted. Want to get it on the road asap as i've no transport till i get the bike registered and all
