Help? Shocked

Just taken delivery of a chain rivetter/splitter and I am looking at it and thinking.........WTF?

Can anyone tell me what pieces I need to rivet on a chain and where they go in relation to the tool. I am guessing these things are pretty standard????? Confused

I am not worried about using the splitter at present - I am taking off a split link.

Apologies if this seems really daft, I just wanna rest assured I get this right.

Thumbs Up

Don't be a fool with your tool, this is how to be cool:

From what I remember:

You need to reduce a chain to the right length before fitting it. So, determine the correct length, and use the chain splitter to push out the rivet at the point you need to split the chain.

When you join the chain together again, you use the chain splitter to push that rivet back in, but only after you've put the loose end of the chain where the section of chain was that you just removed.

Also, be sure to check the 'polarity' of the link you are splitting, t be sure it matches the end you want to join.

I know this all makes absolutely zero sense now, but have a play with removing the end link of the chain and putting it back, and you'll soon learn...

No problemmo.

Please refer to the attached pic for guidance on correct link polarity!

Of course, I might just have confused things and it isn't an issue at all, tis a while since I last joined a chain...

They're not just any old slots, they're POWER SLOTS.

They reduce the weight of the complex RS100 transmission system, giving me an extra 0.003 Horsepower!

That's an extra 2.5 Catpower, if you don't do metric Thumbs Up

If your not confident in using the tool then please get the finished result checked over by a mechanic, they won't charge you for just looking at it.

There are different tools for different chains and the last thing you want is the chain snapping and taking part of your body with it.
