Just got home from work (4am, I work in a bar). When I got back to my motorcycle, which I always park in a motorcycle parking bay in the center of Nottingham, I found a parking ticket wrapped around the accelerator grip. The reason for the ticket printed on it was "Parked in a restricted area or street".

Basically, I think they took a dislike to me parking right at the edge of the bay bordering on the bicycle parking area next to it. However there is no physical marking for the bay, just an iron railing for chaining bikes to with a sign above it with a 'P' and a picture of a motorbike. I know I was parked right at the edge of what could be considered the motorcycle parking bay, but the area is not marked out in anyway and there is no text to indicate the rules for parking there.

Every day I see at least several traffic wardens whilst riding through the city and then whilst walking from where I park the bike to where I work. From now on I'm gonna subject the fuckers to the biggest campaign of physical and verbal intimidation and threats they've ever known. No fucker touches my motorcycle and gets away with it. These pieces of human vermin have happily sold their soles to the council for a steady pay check, so as far as I'm concerned they deserve everything they get. No I will not be paying the £60 fixed penalty notice, and I definitely will not be paying it within 15 days to reduce it by half. I will eff and blind at these examples of filth everyday for the rest of the time that I park my bike in that bay. There are gonna be fucking repercussions for this.

Sub human fucking filth Evil or Very Mad

Done to me so many times. Take pics of the area, including all signs and then send the council a nice letter appealing the ticket and if you don't get a response then keep trying.

As said, ensure you continue to keep trying to communicate with the council. Lots of photos, lots of letters. Keep copies of all of them. Do not rest until they admit their error and repeal the ticket. You should have a good case by the sounds of things, but they always try and make it difficult, that way most people end up just paying for an easy life.

Good Luck!

Did you ever get a ticket whilst abroad?

I would suggest that your anger should be directed at the people that put such things into action, rather than the people paid to take the action.

I definitely don't agree with the way some places pay their wardens based on meeting 'targets' - with prizes for those that can get the most.
If they are to use such a situation, I would suggest that any tickets which are appealed should have the costs involved to the council and to the person fined refunded from their wage packet.

My bike was 2 feet from the 'rail', so if Chris's was beyond mine then it would have been more like 2 meters away. And to be frank, if it was 10meters away from the rail I would appeal on the basis that there are no painted markings showing the area of the parking bay. It is physically impossible for them to give you a ticket for parking outside of a bay that technically doesn't actually exist.

And yes G, I may rethink my vendetta against the traffic wardens. I gave a young guy some serious verbal abuse the other day, and he looked genuinely shocked when I told him that my bike had been ticketed in that particular bay. I'm sure the council are well aware that this bay isn't properly marked.
