Hi all,

Well here starts the report of my adventures in Morocco IN April 2007.

Those of you whom have read about my other adventures will be surprised to hear that this one does not start with tragic misfortune days before I was due to leave. In fact the only thing of note was the fact that as always I very nearly missed my ferry. An intelligent person would probably not pack the night before they were due to leave, giving themselves only 4 hours sleep before an all day sprint across France. That person is not me. If you never thought you could tour, then read on as I will prove to you that anyone can.

Since it is late, and I haven't really considered what I want to say just yet, I'll keep this first note short.

My most vivid memory of this trip has my bike running, while I setup a camera on a small tripod and click the 10sec timer. Having only vaguely considered what happens next, I run towards the bike, hook my leg over the seat, and aim it towards the far side of a small river. Perhaps the more important things were what I had not thought about. I had not considered how deep the river was, whether it would be wise to unload any electronics or documents from the bike or in fact if it was wise considering I hadn't seen another vehicle or soul for half an hour. Did I mention it was getting dark? Most of these things entered my mind around half way into the river, at about the point where the bike dug into the large loose stones which covered the bottom of the river bed. In fact I was certain, as my feet fell from the pegs and desperately tried to steady the bike as it slid and bucked beneath me, that I was going to be stranded in this river with a bike many kilos to heavy for me to drag out and a phone much too wet to be of any use...even if by some miracle there was reception.

Enjoy the photos, it was a lot of fun taking them. I hope the story does not bore you too much, if you want something less bike related, try my blog.
Best Regards,

Nat.

Fantastic, you certainly kept this one quiet until you'd done it!

I certainly wouldn't mind a trip round Morrocco, and of course if I had the funds to do a trip round the African continent and across the Sahara then I'd pack my bags in an instant. However I've already vowed to return to Norway for a more decent length of time, and I've also promised to do Croatia/Bosnia/Albania/Macedonia on a medium length tour. And of course this year my holiday is already planned as I'm going Czecsky/Slovakia/Austria on a homemade sidecar outfit. But I wouldn't say no to touring Russia like you did last year either! There are just too many places in the world to go travelling!

One day we're gonna have to form a BCF touring Clique and meet up somewhere to share photos and stories in more detail than you can on the Internet.

Now that sounds like a great idea. Norway was actually meant to be the destination this year, but as you know things change and plans are altered. I also have dreams of returning to Slovakia/Croatia/Bosnia and seeing a bit more of that beautiful area of the world (before mass tourism takes its toll). You are spot on the money, so many beautiful places, so little time and money. I think I could happily manage 4-5 years of non-stop touring. If only there was a way to cultivate limitless financial support whilst fulfilling dreams...
