Got a parking ticket today
The parking bay in Notts was full so I parked right next to it and chained my bike to a pole and returned to find a ticket on the bike. I was literally 2 feet away from the rail the rest of the bike's were chained to. Nath from here's bike was next to mine and had a ticket on it when I got back too.

ah well, that would stop the money grabbing ba$tards from virtually cheating you out of £££'s, they could never dream of such a thing!
i park where i want, when i want, if i get ticketed, there will be a loophole somewhere, plus the c^nts still being nearby is the best bonus ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. They recently 'out sourced' the parking enforcement in Chippenham and have started getting arsey about where bikes park. This isn't a major problem in the centre of the town as there is a bridge that gets used by bikes for parking with no problems. However there is a bike shop up by the train station that has double yellow lines right across the entrance to their workshop, with parking spaces either side, so the lines are obviously threre to stop people blocking thier access. Unsurprisingly, in the first week the new company was operating the bike shop got tickets for 3 bikes that they had placed there (one was a customers!) as they needed some room in the workshop! ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

*Update* (3 and half months later)
As Chris said in his original post, my bike was parked in the same place at the same time and also got ticketed. I ignored the ticket, then after a month they sent me a letter demanding payment, threatening an increased fine if I didn't pay, and giving me the option to appeal against the fine. I waited 28days and sent the form off back to them at the last minute appealing the fine.
I got a letter back with photographs of my bike, and an more detailed explanation that my bike was illegally parked because it was "in the bicycle parking bay next to the motorbike parking bay". Again they demanded payment of the fine, or I could appeal to the National Parking Ajudication Services, against the council. Again I waited the full 28days then sent off my appeal form at the last minute, requesting a personal hearing with the adjudicator.
I got a letter back very promptly acknowledging my appeal and telling me by when to submit any evidence I would be using. A few days later I got another letter giving me the date and time of the hearing with the adjudicator. A few more days later (this morning) I got another letter, this time from the Council's parking services, telling me that they're canceling the fine.
What a bunch of robbing fucking bastards. Their letter explained that they were "letting me off" on a "technicality", and that I was indeed "incorrectly parked in a bicycle parking area". That's total bollocks and even the most retarded traffic warden in the city must know it. No bikes have been ticketed for parking where I was or worse since Christmas, so they must know full well that their parking tickets had no legal basis whatsoever, yet they still continued to try and extort money from me claiming I was parked illegally.
Their letter offered no explanation why they refused my first appeal to the council, yet cancelled the ticket the moment I appealled to the NPAS despite me offering them nothing but a quickly scribbled outline of my case, written in 15minutes during my lunch break. Believe you me, this is not the last of it and I am gonna do my best to get a personal meeting with some senior person in the council and worm an apology out of them. It fucking disgusts me, I had to spend my valuable time filling in these appeal forms, spend my money on stamps to send them off, and I'd started taking photographic evidence to use in the appeal hearing which took me at least an hour of walking around the city to gather. That works out at about £1.50 in postage, and 2hours of my very important and precious time. I am not happy with the outcome of this, they are fucking vermine, trying to illegally extort money out of the innocent law abiding working man grafting his arse off to earn a living enough to allow him one pleasure in life - To ride motorcycles.
/End of rant. I really hope the thread-starter, Chris_biker, never payed his ticket, because that would put him £60 out of pocket for doing absolutly nothing. Don't be a victim of council and government sponsered extortion, defy them at all costs. ____________________ Hard livin', hard luck. |
