Rear shock hydraulic fluid

This is probably going to have been a nice big cockup on my part.

I needed to get the rear shock off my Cat frame as I've got a buyer. Whilst getting the rear shock loose was fine, I found the undertray and the frame stopped the cylinder from slipping out. After trying to get that blasted tray out for half an hour, I conceded defeat and split the shock at the banjo bolt. It promptly started pissing hydraulic fluid everywhere. Not too much of a problem, until I realised I don't have the faintest clue how to bleed and refill it, and neither does the buyer. Will it be a big headache on his part to sort it out? At the moment it looks exactly like a brake fluid line, with the banjo bolt and the one-use copper washer. Is it a tricky job to do? The cylinder is covered in warning signs so I'm a bit concerned.

Yes. it's fucked unless you send it off and get it rebuilt / recharged. Bad move splitting that banjo union yes?

Mr. Man at Dog Motorcycles tells me it's still saleable, if not to the nice chappy who wanted it in the first place. Sorry!

As you have allowed the damping oil out of the shock if the nitrogen is held in a bladder you have probably ruptured this as well.

The bladder needs the pressure of the oil to stop it blowing out.

Sounds trashed. Rebuild would be £50~£100 I suspect, so for £30 it is not financially worthwhile to rebuild to sell.
