I got a Court Summons for a blue plastic light cover, & a Full Race Exhaust system.

Can't deny it so have pleaded guilty by post, anyone got any ideas what the fine is likely to be???

Funny thing is a month laster i got rid of the ZX9r and brought a XJR1300, so i don't even own the bike i am being charged on.

Ta

Stuart.

They can do you for 3 points per 'offence' when it comes to non-roadsafe bits on your bike or car. i.e. 2 bald tyres can = 6 points + fine. You may be lucky and escape with just a hefty fine, or 3 points and a lighter fine. At the worst, 6 points + fine (i think) Sad

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the 3 points per offence is what you can opt for at the roadside. If you get taken to court you can get fucked over big style Confused

Wonder how they got you for it, maybe the bike was parked up and they examined it? Surely you should have had it within 14 days of the 'offence'.

The undercover PC said that it was only a warning. however they can go back on there word and have 6 months to take you to court.

Wish it could have been settled there and then.

Thats usually speeding offences caught on camera. They have 14 days to inform you that you have commited an offence, then they can take upto 6 months to actually prosecute you. So if you were pulled over for having bits on the bike, or speeding etc, you dont need to be 'notified' that you have commited an offence, you already know Smile

Sorry mate, i hope you get off lightly. Surely these officers have better things to worry about other than bloody lights and cans........ like go stop some robbing bastards stealing bikes or mugging old ladys. Twisted Evil

Hi,

Notice your in Basingstoke. Where did you get done? Was it just pulled over and done for the exhaust and lights? Confused

I thought that exhaust is non endorsable. Your best bet would be to go and ask at https://www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/ in the Legal forum as T.C. there knows pretty much everything there is to know Wink

Good luck!

Cant agree more.

I tell you one thing.(different day) My girlfriend came of her new bike and had the police and Ambulance turn up. I was called back from work and meet them at the scene.

Sarah was being treated in the Ambulance so i went to the police car and asked how she was. All they said to me is that both of our bikes have illegal number plates and did i know that. the S@@Ts I had to ask again how is Sarah before i was told her condition. Evil or Very Mad

Did they pull you over during the day??
If so you cannot be done for any headlight/lighting offences, as for the time period, the police have 6 months from the date of the offence to summon the offender to court, the 14 days is for offences such as dangerous driving, failing to conform to traffic signs, speeding and leaving vehicle in dangerous position.

Hope this helps - NOT all police are wankers!!!

Are you sure of this Guest?
I thought that if the bike had a normal (not daylight) MOT then it had to have lights working properly.

I know of situations where people have got done for dodgy headlights in daylight.
