What is the approximate weight of the zzr600 and the claimed bhp?

What im trying to do is find myself a cheap/easy to insure but half nippy sport tourer, if come up with the cbr600f and the zzr, two similar but different bikes.

would anyone do me the favour of posting up the weights and claimed power of both of these bikes?

ZZR 600 is :195K dry weight and 97 bhp.

My insurance TPF+T with 1 years NCB is £188

If you were to slice the ZZR down the middle like a stick of rock you'd find the word "Nippy" .

So its not the lightest of bikes and doesnt look the racyest, but its got go in it, at a very insurable insurance group yes?

I think i may invest in one, i really want a zxr750 but this will be a compromise untill i have experience and funds.

Believe you me, riding it last night in the high winds down the M6, it felt a very light bike. The Divvy felt like a tractor compared to the ZZR... .

It's light, handles well and has a bucket-load of grunt. I think it's group 13, but not sure so don't quote me.. . They are a decent bike at cheap money and will keep up with most stuff merrily. I was cruising at 95 fully laden with luggage and pushing 115 in places.

The ZZR600 would be my weapon of choice if i was in the market for a middleweight '6'

I had the ZX10, similar in many ways and i loved it, £ for £ the Zed is a cracking bit of kit.......wind it up to get the most from it as they are quite peaky.

The ZZR600 is a silly bike, doesn't look like much but can go like stink. My best mate has a 1995 model and swears by it, he changed over to F model ZX6R forks, Ohlins shock and runs the F model ZX6R wheels with Pirelli Diablo's. Handles really well, had to ride it back about 70-80 miles on August Bank Holiday after his chain broke on a rideout and I ran my tyre down to the banding.

I remember us pulling up to the petrol station and I was laughing after giving it some neck through twisties because it did things I never expected a bike like this should. I still love my ZX6R though...

The ZZR is pretty heavy but is still up there with the fastest 600's on top speed and beats most on midrange as well. Get bike for getting sideways coming off roundabouts as the handleing is very predictable.

Also makes more power than the early R6 I believe although a bit heavier to.

Get the thing up to 7k revs and the engine wakes up and really starts throwing out the power. first time out, my brother in law got my ZZR up to 120mh in a quarter mile, on the back wheel.. . I was on his first edition 900cc Triumph speed triple and got left for dust..

I love mine, its fast as hell and comfy - perhaps not as light as you would want but whats a few kg's when you have a monster smile on your face!

Not managed to get mine far on its side yet but I am assured it really is fun in the twisties.

29year old first time rider 0 no claims and its £300 per year inclusive of business mileage.

Id go for the CBR. Personal choice.

How is the ZZr on reliability?

Another vote for the zzr.
I've a '94 e model.
I've done about 5k since Feb.
First big bike, plenty of go.
No reliability problems apart from a 'stuck' starter motor which is solved by bumping the bike backwards. Thats happened maybe three times.
Engine is perfect with about 35k on the clock.

Just traded mine up to a ZX6r but I would definately have another later on. Fantastic to ride and keeps up with more or less anything else on the road, good for 160mph top end (book speed) and yet easy to ride and cheap to insure.
Go and buy one you won;t regret it mate.

I much more preffer the sports-tourer seating position on the ZZR than a full on sports arrangement. With being 6ft 1, most sports bikes feel tiny and uncomfortable..
