I got a slight problem, where i live there has been a lot of strong winds recently. My bike is chained to a lamp post out side my house and covered with a bag but with all the strong winds recently the bike is getting lifted off the side stand and blown up against the lamp post. I have it parked in as close to the lamp post as possible but it still gets lifted by the wind.

I dont have anywhere else i can keep her (SV650s) Will the weight of the bike falling onto its side stand damage it? Last winter The RS125 I had got blown over, but that was easily fixed, I lifted her rear end until the tyer was into the corner of the lamp post but the SV is too heavy for me to do this with!

Anyone got any suggestions? I dont want to leave her uncovered as I live in the city.

Like a boat, point it into the wind if you can.

yep if she falls you will most probably do damage. probly just a broken lever and a few scratches.
have you got a center stand?
do you live in a tenement or something??
is there a fence near by or some sort of large solid object that you can park the bike beside, that will at least cut the wind from one side, and if you have it parked close enough to the fence atleast if it get blown from the other side it'll just knock it into the fence and not fall over.
even a patch of lawn and some ground screws (b&q do them cheap)
and either 2 or 4 tie downs

sweet as Very Happy
it wont be going any where then Very Happy
you could even use one of them or a few of them to lock the bike too as well :d
they dont go anywhere when they are screwed in Very Happy

I stay in in multi story flats, me bike is chained close enough so that I can still see her but far enough away so thats it not a target for stuff getting chucked out of windows in the flats (it happens a lot, ie glasses, batteries, videos etc, such a nice area I live!) I think leaving her uncovered is going to be the only option, not a good one though as I heard suzuki's are bad for rusting Rolling Eyes

My bike cover used to blow up like a parachute and nearly toppled the bike over. A little rain on the bike is better than being pulled over due to a sudden gust Thumbs Up

what about getting a damper of some sort (a bit of foam or some thing like that) then get a tie down and actually tie it to the lamppost that way it wont be going any where Very Happy and you can still have your cover on, Thumbs Up

That is so simple its brilliant, gonna give it a try. Got a couple of pillows I can cover with a bin bag and jam it between the bike and the lamp post.

Thank you this might just work but am away to dye me hair blonde now for being so stupid and not thinking of something like that sooner, Doh!
