Hi people,
I've recently just bought a scooter 50cc (Zhongyu 50 QT-7) second hand. Although im very happy with the fact of getting my first responsibilty, im disapointed with the speed. If i fully turn throttle it picks up to 20mph but if i pull of it picks up to max 26-28mph, up a hill its 20mph (fair enough as its a hill). And also when i go down a steepish hill, it picks to 30ish but screeches (maybe because its trying to slow down?). Ive heard of 'de-restricting' 50cc bikes. I'm just wondering if this would help with the speed change? I also think it'll need a service as its 2nd hand and dont know past history (p.s. its a 55 registration).
Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks, Craig.

People will need to know the make and model of the scooter to be able to help you. Hopefully you'll find the answers you're after.

Also worth trying to search scooter de-restriction using a search engine.

If its 4 Stroke, nothing you can do to make it go faster.

If its 2 Stroke, there will be restricters in the Variator, exhaust, and possibly CDi, Most 2 stroke scooters are near enough the same, so find a rough guide with pictures, and try and replicate what they are doing, but on your bike

Hope that helps Smile

Hi mate I own exactly the same bike as you just with a different name.

You can derestrict it.

I can't be asked to do write anything so I will just give you a link to the chinese scooter site. I know the manual says Baotian but it works for any chinese 50cc scooter.
