i want to get fit, and was thinking of joining the TA, or being a fireman.

mainly just cause i need some sort of motivation to get myself fit.

otherwise i will go "yeh ill go to the gym" go one day then not go again for abit.

yeh i would need to change my diet 2.

good luck tho man. i figured tho i work out harded when im in a bad mood.

like when i found out my ex cheated on me, i gained a fuckload of muscle that week, then did other stuff (got revenge sorta) and then i aint worked out in ages so its all gone down the drain.

I'm currently going to the gym to create weight loss AND get fit.

I'm not loosing much weight, due to the fact I am doing some muscle training as well. But you can tell I have lost weight physically.

As for fitness. I actually feel fitter now than when I was playing a football match twice a week.

They key is to stick at what you are doing and gradually increase the distance/reps etc. Then a month later go back to what you were doing and I bet you find it really easy. That is dead proof that you are getting fit. Thumbs Up

Do what i'm doing, go to some back water boxing club in the middle of some armpit welsh council estate.

The warm up is usually 40 minutes of jogging on the spot interspersed with massive sets of pressups, sit ups, tuck jumps, sprinting on the spot etc.

Now i got all that on my first session and as a dedicated overweight drinker and smoker with a cold that was abit lively. Got about 35 minutes through it then may have gone and died for a bit.

But once you get in a ring and through punches and move about for 3 minutes straight you start to see the point.

Hence why i know do alot of fitness everyday, go boxing mroe often, ive cut back on booze and i quit smoking.

Feeling bloody fit already (been boxing over a month now)

Try some fitness classes, I personally find Body Pump a heck of a lot better than the gym.

my routine....

Start the day with a cold shower to boost your metabolism....

after shower routine (I increment the reps as they become easier)
50 press ups none stop
80 situps non stop
15 elevated press ups with wide grip (feet about 4 feet above ground)
35 oblique sit ups
15 elevated press ups with regular grip
35 oblique sit ups
15 elevated press ups with close grip

Lunch time run between 3 - 5 miles if I'm kickboxing at night
If no kickboxing then aim between 6 - 10 miles
Chin Ups till arm fatigue

Night time (3x a week) kickboxing, including circuits, focus pad work, bag work, sparring. Class lasts two hours.

Thats my routine....I do the morning routine 5/6 days a week making sure to get at least one mornign off.

The key to success is variety in pace and effort. Keep your body guessing so it never gets accustomed to any type of exercise. Run 1 mile at full tilt, till you think your heads gonna explode then slow right down. Do lamp post sprints, hill runs etc.

Diet is very important too. Aim to be eating 5 times a day with plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Processed foods of any kind will leave you feeling fatigued whilst training.

Other than diet, drink/drug abuse will obviously affect your perfomance.

Increasing any routine can and will leave you fatigued initially until your body becomes accustomed to it. Ignoring your diet will hamper performance. Slight dehydration can decrease performance by 20%. Easy way to monitor you fluid intake is to check the colour of your piss. If its clear then your fully hydrated. Happy days Thumbs Up

Hi,

May be worth investing in a personal trainer once every 2 weeks or so.

A personal trainer will always be able to push you harder and further then you could ever have imagined.
