my neighbour is worried that his daughter has been visiting some dodgy websites, she is 13, she has her own logon on xp which has a password, everytime him or his wife goes into the room she closes explorer, he has just popped round to ask for my help (dunno why i'm clueless with pc's) he seems quite worried what with t'internet peados, so he wants to try and view her internet history from his account so she does not know he has been looking. i'm sure you understand the need

cheers fellas and fellaesses

C:\documents and settings\<her user account>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

he needs to make sure "show hidden files and folders" is enabled for the folder options, or he's not going to see the local settings folder.

How would she know that he's been looking at her internet history unless he told her?

Could also point out to him about how most child sex crimes are commited by people known to the child, rather than by random strangers met over the internet.

Weird idea this one, but asking her bout where she goes online would also be a good idea, likely to be more useful than asking his neighbour who then asks about it on the internet. Wink

The rule in our house is he has his own account but that I know the password. I have also agreed that I wont look at his account without telling him first and we also have the puter in a part of the house where I walk past him a lot. I've never had a problem so far, he does have msn people but I know most of them and he doesnt suspiciouslly close owt when I come in. Surely this bloke should speak to his daughter about his concerns, if they cant communicate about this then he shouldnt be allowing her on the puter at all. I would also be concerned what else theyre not talking about.

Ive used software in the past that takes snapshots of the pc at intervals then uploads them to a site or emails them to me.

IT also logs the sites and other things that the user does. I think it was called Redhand or somthing.
