Hey, Just found this forum and decided to sign up... Cool And *sigh* my first post will be a problem Shocked .

Im 17 and passed my CBT about 5 weeks ago and i have been riding around on my YBR 125. Until today i didnt have any boots and i have found difficulty adjusting to them. I have some problems shifting gears because it seems like a tight fit under the lever and sometimes its hard to apply enough pressure to cause a shift up.

Just curious as to if this is another learning curve seening as today has been my first time riding with boots or if its a problem.

Cheers.

If you have never ridden in boots before, then you are going to find it quite restrictive and strange..... but stick with it, you will get used it.

Wear your boots as much as possible, even round the house etc ....to bed them in and soften them. When your not wearing them, sit flexing them while your watching tv or something.

You say that its a real tight fit under the gear lever,....try adjusting it slightly.

I used to wear a pair of old boots....that I had had for years and they felt like carpet slippers. Then I bought a pair of Sidi Black Rains and they felt awful at first, and like you I had problems changed gear, but after 3 days I didnt even know I had them on. Thumbs Up

My boots were awful when I first wore them (Frank Thomas Aquas)

I could hardly move my ankles, it felts so weird walking, fortunately I'd bought them before the bike, so I had a chance to wear them in a bit before getting on my bike.

Now they are more comfortable than trainers, and I forget I'm wearing them sometimes (get in trouble a lot for wearing them in the house Wink)

It's normal. When I got my bike, I didn't have any bike boots (or other kit). I bought jacket, lid and trousers straight off but just used some work type boots for a week or two until I found some bike boots I thought were comfortable (but certainly not stylish).

When I tried the boots on the bike I thought I was going to have to take them back, or at least adjust the gear lever on the bike - it felt so wierd. Changing gear was a real problem! About a week later it all felt just fine and now I really can't understand why it was so bad initially.

HI mate I had a YBR 125 for my first bike. You may find you need to alter the gear lever as mine was a little low down not leaving me much space to get my foot under and change gear. once i moved it up a bit it was great no problem Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

you may not have noticed that it was a prob at first if you have been using other shoes but the boots will make it harder.
