CRM Fork Seals

Hi Guys

This is my first post, please be gentle.

Looking at a mates CRM 250 MkII as an entry to the off road world. He has admitted that the bike is in need of a service and that the fork seals need doing .

Service no problem.

Fork Seals

Is this a difficult job? Any Idea on parts cost?

I an ok with a spanner but no mechanic

Shouldn't be a big problem.

I suspect it'll be a similar 'level' to doing the piston rings etc.

Forks are relatively simple things. The only special tool you might need is a fork seal driver, though brute force usually works.

I've bodged together a 'seal driver' by getting a small bit of plastic draingage piping and cutting out a section along it's length - then using gaffa tape to hold the tube and thus make diameter of the tube smaller, so it just fits over the fork leg.

doesnt the MKII have USD catridge forks making it a bit harder to do?

It does have USD forks.

However if anything I'd say the USD forks on the RS250 were easier because you didn't have the hassle of using aforementioned slide bodge.

However, it was harder to get the old seals out.
