Of course it's a valid excuse. It's what holds most people back from trying it. Would you buy a brand new £35K Subaru Impreza straight out of the showroom and take it rallying on some local waste land? No, because you can't afford to waste that type of money just to piss around doing something pointless albeit fun for a few hours.

You obviously have enough money to be able to spend 3.5k for a bike to do this, most people don't.

One mistake and that could be next weeks wage gone in repair bills and you're catching the bus everywhere untill it's fixed. Or like you, you could spend £1000 turning a nice looking machine into a tank to limit the damage. Fine if stunting is that important to you, a big sacrafice if it's not.

If you could buy a bike like yours for £500 there would be loads more people who buy one as a 2nd bike to have a go at stunting, just like they do for trackdays. But at least on a trackday you are actually riding the bike properly.

However, any drawback that can be thought up could be overcome if someone really wanted to stunt. But to most people it's not worth that amount of money just to show off a bit.

If you have a dirtbike on the field, you're obivously not going to be thinking about damaging the bike too much. If you're on a sportsbike you saved hard for then that's going to be holding you back.

If you have a stunt bike that's made for taking damage then you're only concern is to learn with a clear mind. (Apart from getting hurt..)

No denying his talent...but if you expose kids from a young age to something like stunt riding, assuming they dont die or have a nasty experience... they will take to it like they do with languages... If hes on that at 13, he musta had access to smaller bikers from much younger...

Ought to be a very good rider in years to come.

I agree with the above poster that most people can't pop stunts on bikes because they can't afford or aren't willing to try, because crashing is a part of learning.

I try and loft the odd wheelie but I wouldnt dare try anything more adventurous as the financial implications are far too grave to be worthwhile.

That's what i've done, i bought a cheap off roader. Not specifically for stunting but within 10 mins of getting my arse on it i was doing the best wheelies i've ever done on any bike. Simply because i don't give a shit about it, dropping it is unlikely to cause any damage and the bike only cost the same as 1 brake disc for a decent sports bike in the first place.
