Company mistake.

Hi

My mum recieved a phonecall saying she was due some money from some company about tax or something similar, the money was backdated a few months so she got it all in one lump sum.

They phoned her back next day to say it was a mistake & it would be in her best intrest not to touch the money as they sort out a way to get the money back. The guy said he would phone back (Yesterday) but didn't.

They still havn't phoned or sent a letter. She bought some bits as she thought she would have some spare cash & now they want it all back so where does she stand, should she leave the money in there?

is this the part where they call back and ask for the account details (or a blank cheque if that's too much effort)?

If she has an account with them and they've over-credited, then they issue a bill at the end of the calendar month and she settles the account. I'd be careful though - as a rule, random companies don't suddenly decide to dish out money to strangers

I think she has an accoutn with them yes, they ahve her bank details as it was transferred straight over. If she still hasn't heard anything by the morning she's gonna withdraw some to cover what she's already spent.
