255bhp is MotoGP territory (although it'll obviously not handle as well). Proper brown trousers scarey I should image.
Now give me the keys! |

255 is low-boost setting 285 on high-boost. The spec of that bike is incredible, the rods and pistons would cost over a grand, 1200 quid for the complete clutch with billet hub & basket, 5 grand for the turbo kit plus the cost of the bike, and those extensions can be un-bolted to put it back to stock wheelbase ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

He isn't talking out of his arse mate he's a genuine guy and a seriously talented rider. Here he is in the 2005 national finals:

Phil Wood has won Top Bike every year since 2001 on his turbo bike. Your mate must have won it a while back. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Ok, spoken to said mate (who won the overall championship in 2004 as I recall, he wasn't running top-bikes that year though).
If you look at his website (which I can't, doesn't seem to work with my browser but my mate did), there are pictures of the bike running at santa pod. It is lower and fitted with a longer swingarm, said mate reckons a spondon of some sort.
He also claims 350bhp from the bike on his website. It is possible that he ran an 8.50 on it with this much power and with the chassis in drag trim, but only if he is really good (which by all accounts he is) and was having a very good day.
So, it looks like the bike has been downgraded for sale. At 350bhp it would be running on canned fuel for one thing so not exactly what you'd call 'road legal'.
In short, we're both right. Yes he probably did run an 8.50 on that bike but not in the form and state of tune it is advertised for sale in.
It's still a nice bike, he has however used a certain amount of 'artistic licence' in his claims of its current performance in the advert. (I think stating the bike still has 7 months warranty is quite an exercise in wishful thinking too ). |

Yes I did notice the Spondon arm (it's shown in the pic in my post above), and I was going to mention that too. I doubt that anyone would want a roadbike with a 68" wheelbase though, plus those buggers are over £700 new. I think the advert is fair enough, the pictures clearly show the stock arm + extensions. Perhaps he could have added "with more power and a 68" arm" to the advert. The warranty thing is funny , dunno how far you'd get on the road without a pull using that dump-pipe for an exhaust either though I know someone who does it
As an aside I don't think there's any law stopping you using race fuel on the street (apart form the £20 a gallon law that is), though I'd not be using more than 6 or 7 lbs boost on pump fuel, without an intercooler. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Fookinell they look sexy. I can't make out the name on them but they look well-made.
Never thought about the road duty on race fuel.
Hey I just had a great idea. Run your bikes on race fuel and save a mint on the tax ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I'll be disappointed if it don't make 450HP Keith, but Dave Smith reckons the turbo is good for 500 and the rest of the bits should be too (I hope). That would be a dream come true, all depends if my charge-cooler will flow enough through 3 cores. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
