Tax / SORN?

I hate this stupid criminalise the innocent mentality , ie the Sorn system which I beleive is designed to extort £80 out of people who are forgetful.

My question however is this:

Can you SORN on the little green bit of the V5 you get when you buy a bike? , going to look at yet another no tax and no MOT bike (to be transported by van) , but as said don't want to ride it till at least Feb so I have some time to restore it.

the lack of MOT , and Insurance prevents me from getting tax.

any thoughts?

Register it as normal then do the SORN online when you get the V5 back. Easy as.
