help! dont think bandit 6 is the right bike for me?

Right im soo happy im on a big bike and all but i dont think im on the right one for me...i mean im totally used 2 the bike , the power the way it handles...but i just dont feel i like one thing....the way it handles!! i mean the thing 2 me just dont want 2 lean! i have 2 slow down loads for a corner because i carnt lean the bike very well...if anyone understands what i mean...maby its just that the bike isnt my style of bike because i prefer the sports bike style (light and agile)..do you know what i mean?

Push harder on the bars and use more counter steering. Try shifting your weight off the seat and hang like a chimp to pull the bike over more.

Practise, practise and practise.

I felt more stable and settled on the ZXR than on the FZR, 2 sports bike of similar age, cc differed as did the riding position, but handled in similar ways.

I would presume that most generic bikes handle the same, its all about confidence and knowing that the bike will make the corner.

I found that by thinking I rode like a plank, yet if I just rode (mostly like a twat without thinking) the ride was smoother and sharper.

Check the tyre pressure and the back shock settings and how much thead
is left on the tyres.

Indeed, you can almost certainly improve the speed of turn by a huge amount by fiddling with front and rear ride height etc, and as Paddy says, tyre pressures and profile will amke a difference too. I should get someone who knows what they're doing to give you a hand and try improving it before thinking of changing the bike, no reason why it shouldn't scrape it's footpegs!

I know a lot of bandit owners use a jack up kit on the rear to make it fall into corners better. Might be worth looking into.

I hated my bandit from day one, couldnt throw it around like i was use too.
3/4 months later i can chuck it about like a bmx,it does its job but i feel like my grandad ,even the girlfreind tells me I hate it.
get rid asap, I want too.

Probably just such a big difference from light/low cc bikes to a 200kg lump.

How long you had it/how many miles?

Keep at it, check as has been mentioned - give it a little time and then make your mind up

i'd just put it down to inexperience.
i know it may sound a tad condescending but when i think back to my first couple of years of riding heavier machinery i thought i had my bike pretty much figured out and i didn't like what i was experiencing.
understeer, bike seeming to want to sit up in corners,front wheel feeling very vague and generally having no confidence in what was going on underneath me.
another 4 years later and still having the same bike i now realise that it was all in my head.
thing that probably increased my confidence the most was a couple of trips with experienced bikers on wet roads at a rather fast pace.
not wanting to get left behind i had to show a bit of blind faith in the bike and pushed it harder than i normally would in the dry.
really opened my eyes to what the bike was capable of and increased my confidence no end.
it became apparent that the problem wasn't the bike but me.
sometimes you have to bully the bike into doing what you want it to do.
good positive input through the handlebars rather than a limp attempt at countersteer etc.etc. was probably the most valuable lesson i learnt.

im gunna have to agree with the above post.
you can switch bikes and you might get a better reaction from it. but
don't get it into your head that you can't get the bandit to do the same thing.
try sliding the forks up the yokes an inch or so, or change to clip on bars to alter your riding stance.
play around with the suspension setting and see.
the bandits are good bikes, and will take a beating.
stick with it and if you still don't like it get a rgv or an rg500
you dont get much lighter than that

Don't focus too much on leaning.

Make sure you just look ahead to the corner and not spend your time thinking about whether you'll lean enough.

I think its about approaching it with a care-free attitude.

Also, have you considered taking it to a track day?

Don't let it run you, thrash it about a bit!!

I have a bandit 6 and I think its great it handles great, I know its fairly heavy but don't be afraid to plant it into the corners. You will be supprised what it can do

Had a bandit 1200 which seemed pretty good handling - so maybe there is an element of tired shocks etc here.

At first it seemed a bit skitish and jumpy due to short wheelbase and rake of front wheel.
As someone said above using counter-steering consciously helped getting used to cornering on it.
Counter-steering is what forces the bike to lean on cornering so ties in with your issue about not feeling confident leaning it.

fair enough ppl...ive had a play on it this morning with it sunshining 4 once lol....i think it iz down 2 confidance...i like the bike and a couple of my m8s treat the bastard like a sports bike and have no problem...ive done 300 miles on it and ill get betta....i love the riding posision on it and its soo comfy, im shure it handles its just finding out how 2. thankyou ppl for your comments and i will update once i can plant it rnd a corner

You've only been riding it a week. Give it a few months. I got used to it after month and i'd hopped on it from a ped, so the weight difference was quite significant.
