Andy McNab books...

Reading Bravo Two Zero now, and nearly finished it. Great book it is.

Anyway, after i finish this, i may get some of his fiction books to read.

I see he has 2 different 'series'
1 series about Nick Stone Missions (9 books), and the other series called Boy Soldier (3 books another due)

Which of the 2 series is the better to start reading?

get immediate action next it charts the run up to the time of bravo two zero not quite an autobiography but i found it so much more enjoyable, miles better than bravo two zero but his writing style still intensely annoys me so i could never stomach his fiction

for a much more interesting account of life in special forces without so much 'i am the man' attached... try 'The Quiet Soldier' by Adam Ballinger, talks about his journey of joining the SAS Reservists

the boy soldier ones are more for teenagers (or so i thought when i read one)
try immediate action next, as mentioned it charts mcnabs life up to the first gulf war.
then you could try his fiction books i.e last light, firewall, dark winter.
to be honest i actually prefer chris ryans fiction books, they are all a good read.
if you want to try sas-military related non-fiction then 'the real bravo two zero' by mike asher is a good read, as well as 'soldier 5' by mike coburn, and they both bring up some interesting thoughts about mcnabs version of events.
also try -
'fighting scared' by robin horsfall
'close quarter battle' by mike curtis
'operation barras' by williiam fowler (an account of the kidnap of the royal irish soldiers in sierra leone)
and dont forget 'black hawk down' by mark bowden - another great read.

The chris ryan books are all really good reads. but if you fancy reading something different try john grisham. john grisham and chris ryan are the only authors i really read.

I have all the books in the Nick Stone series and they are a good read.
Some little things are annoying though, such as the repetition - some phrases or pieces of information are really overused. It's probably my only criticism of McNab's writing.
Another little thing is that there's a lot of time spent going over things that happened in the other books, but that's just so you can pick up any of them and start reading - so I can't complain!

I read Duncan Falconer books aswell as Mcnab and Ryan. Falconer is SBS and has a slightly less bullshit account to his missions.

Boy soldier is a toned down series for younger readers, although still worth reading.

BIG fan of mc'nabs.
not read all of his adult aimed fiction. but getting there. it's really easy going reading and interesting.

if you wanna have your eyes opened to some possible untruths in chris and andys versions of the mission get "the real bravo two zero". it makes you think. well it did for me anyway.

Another good SAS book from the first Iraq war is Sabre Squadron, by Cameron Spence.

Gives a different perspective to the war, and is definitely worth a read.

As hoodwink suggested get Michael Asher's "The real Bravo Two Zero" there was a documentary on Channel four a while back if I remember.
