Issues:
Hosing
Employment
Economic
Social
Racism
Resources

There are many issues that arise from migration, for the host and origin countries. Where the origin country can lose its labour force and skilled workers the host country will gain the workers. However the influx of people can put pressure on resources and housing areas. For example refugees fleeing Somalia due to drought and famine will walk to the nearest country like Ethiopia, which would then put pressure on their food stores. Migrants when moving to a new country usually stay together and stay in the poorest areas of towns and cities due to their lack of capital. This leads to high population densities and bad housing conditions in city central areas. This has happened in inner city Manchester, causing an influx of crime and poor living conditions. Now that the migrants have moved they now require jobs, unfortunately there isn’t an unlimited amount of jobs available and those that are, are low paid due to the mainly unskilled nature of the jobs like cleaners and kitchen staff. This in-turn leads to poverty within the Multicultural societies causing them to turn to crime and drugs causing tension between the ethnic minorities and the white locals bringing about racism and race crimes. One of the worst areas in Britain for this is Oldham where the town is literally split between the “Whites” and ethnic minorities. This problem is especially found in Britain as it has the highest amounts of Refugees and illegal immigrants living or entering the country out of the whole of Western Europe.

International Migration

There are three major forms of international migration:-
Voluntary and permanent
Voluntary and temporary
Forced and permanent

The largest minority of voluntary permanent move from a developing (ledc) to a developed (Medc) country which is on the increase. An example of this would be people moving from Iraq to the UK. In year 2000 7,080 people entered the UK.
The Movement of people moving from an Ledc to Ledc is also on the increase. This is movement; usually to the closest country to the origin country. E.g. Somalia to Kenya due to famine.
Voluntary and permanent migration from an medc to an medc is on the decrease as most Medc’s offer the same advantages as the other medc’s, so unlike in the past people rarely move from a developed to developed country.

Voluntary and temporary migration involves the least number of people. Of which the majority move from an Medc to an Ledc or Medc to Medc, in the form of holidays and tourism. There are only very small benefits of temporary migration from an Ledc to Ledc or Ledc to an Medc when.

Most of International migration is Force migration. This may be due to Human or environmental problems, such as Civil war in Bosnia-Herzegovina where over one million people moved in 1996 to other countries like Germany and Croatia. People were forced from the Island of Montserrat, due to volcanic activity. Some of these refugees moved to Manchester in the UK.

One of the worst areas in Britain for this is Oldham where the town is literally split between the Whites and ethnic minorities. This problem is especially found in Britain as it has the highest amounts of Refugees and illegal immigrants living or entering the country out of the whole of Western Europe. People also move to enable their children to get a better education, for example in some Ledc’s females are not allowed to be educated. This means a high percentage of migrants are children. This can put pressure on Schools in and around multicultural societies such as schools in London. Especially on school resources as most migrant children can not speak English so more time need to be spent with the children to learn to speak the local language.

In the inner cities area such as London where a lot of migrants live, the people there are stuck in poverty. The increasing amounts of immigrants means an increase in unemployment, so more and more people are becoming unemployed, therefore there is more and more poverty and the areas got into a downward spiral of inner-city decline.

In conclusion with respect to the statement I will have to say that I disagree with it. Although there has been a lot of changes of international migration it has had effects on issues risen in multicultural societies. Some good and some bad. Apart from a few cases there is very little racism and hatred to foreigners in their countries. For example the removal of race laws and segregation in America. However migrants are treated poorly when it come to employment as a lot of them are on the minimum wage.

Retro,

You could try putting an add in Biketrader...as the market looks quite good at the mo.

I had a quick ring around last weekend, (2 wks after the people had placed their adverts in)
and out of 6 newish Nsrs for sale ('w' and 'y' regs). i managed to speak to 5 owners....and they ALL had sold their bikes.

seems pretty good really!

My recommendation would be to accidentally leave it unlocked in a rough area with the keys in the ignition and say it was in your garage

(NOTE: This only works with TPFT or comp insurance!!)
