Bike to bike intercomms - bluetooth?

Chaps,

Am looking for a relatively simple method of bike to bike communications. I've been looking/hoping for something ultra small, slimline gadget that'll slip into a helmet and off we go.

As yet, i've not found anything close! I cant even get the gadgets to stay in put, as it puts the electronics on the outside of the helmet, and i cant attach it due to having an AGV helmet (and its little neck brace thingy to keep the pads clean).

So, any one got any intercomms that will use with the AGV GP Pro helmet?

Problem with bluetooth ATM is the battery life. Anything you choose will probably only provide a days worth of riding before needing a recharge. If you're touring and camping then you'd have to rig up some bike charger. However, if you're doing that you may as well go with a wired system.

FYI this post sounds like something you're using or might be interested in.

Also FYI I understand the new Nolan flip up helmets have comms facility built in, you just need to buy the right modules. I think the BMW helmet also has a similar feature. I know this doesn't answer your query but as said, provided FYI.

Cheers guys. I saw the midland unit in the dealers and had the same problem i've had with all the others - i cant keep the unit connected to the helmet.

Am a bit lethargic to buy another £300+ helmet, just so i can get bitched at by the missus Wink

It might work fine for wire free rider to pillion connections, but bluetooth isn't going to work bike to bike. Even if it did work range wise it's never going to be powerful enough to amplify above wind noise.

The only systems that work well are Autocom with their associated velcro'd in background noise canceling speakers/microphone coupled to a £200 odd radio transmitter/receiver.

Sorry but that's the way it is if you want something that enables you to speak and hear clearly at 70mph+ speeds Wink

I can't imagine wanting to speak to anyone (let alone be in a position to have to LISTEN to someone) ... if I was doing 70mph+ speeds.

REALLY for me, riding a bike - and especially when I am riding at anything over 50mph (i.e., out of town) - is a solitary and peaceful occupation, which requires that absolutely nobody can get hold of me.

Mind you, I'm a bit weird Laughing

And my life off a bike is like the Tower of Babel Rolling Eyes

Being on a bike for me is mostly about solitude.
