Hey all,

The other week I visited a mate in a less than pleasant location(!) and therefore actually put my disc lock on my CBR125 (I usually just chain it up at home, often don't bother securing it at all if I'm popping to tescos & have parked it in a busy well lit area)

Anyway, I only feckin forgot I had it on (did have the yellow reminder cable thing on, but it was dark and it only fits on my rear disc so i didnt notice it Rolling Eyes )

Tried to pull away twice before I twigged, anyway I couldn't see any visible damage, but haven't had chance to have a good look in daylight.

The back brake does still work, however when pressed right down it feels 'odd'. Not sure how to describe it, it feels like something is tugging underfoot.

Will I have done lasting damage to any of the brake? Could I fix it myself? Am I a complete nugget who will not forget her disc lock again?

All replies appeciated Smile

Cheers

You've probably bent the rear disc by what you say.

Hey,
I did this on my GPZ400R, not once but bloody twice, however that was on the front brake.

Both discs got warped (I drove off once with it on the left, and the second time on the right).
When they where warped i could feel the brake lever pulsating in my hand. Im guessing this was due to the warped disc pushing the piston back in, and then the piston coming back out again.

You may have been lucky and may just be paranoid, but just to be on the safe side give your back brake a through looking over. Having your brakes fail isnt good Thumbs Down

Cheers,
Shaun.

Thanks for the quick replies Thumbs Up

I feared as much. Will have a good look asap and in the meantime scour ebay for a disc.

Won't be doing that again!! (I hope... Confused )

Cheers

Hey,

If theres nothing suspect about the rear brake take the rear wheel out and take the rear disc off. If you place the disc on a perfectly flat surface(A piece of glass is always good) you should be able to tell if its bent. If its bent it wont sit flat on the glass.

It may be worth getting a patten rear disc. Theres alot of warped shit on ebay.

Ive just had a look on Wemoto and they have an EBC Disc for £69.15.

Personally i'd buy one new, at least you can trust the condition.

Cheers,
Shaun.

as above, dont get a 2nd hand disk, unless you know it is in good conditon.
if you can get the back wheel off the floor ,try to spin the whell......you should see if it is bent.
or if it gets stiff

Only you know how bad it is but if it still works and there's no visible damage i'd be tempted to leave it as it is. Front brake would be a different story as that's the main brake but the back isn't really that important.

there not the longest of cables Rolling Eyes

so best bet would be to attach some string to it use the yellow end round the levers
