I have a speedfight 100 and they are alrite but I wouldnt get it if your gonna ride it long. The parts for em arnt as easy to find as the 50 (some are the interchangeable but the 100s are aircooled and the 50s mostly liquid cooled). Also they can be easy to break if you dont look after it but if you bought one in good godition for less than £700 you would get your money back a year later. Top speed is about 60 which its quite crap really since a tuned 50 could keep up with that. One thing I do like about my speedfight are the brakes..front and rear discs, twin pot calipers and braided hoses as standard! Wink I think they are better than the brakes on my DT!

I would strongly advise you against the aprillia since being your first bike you'll probably spend more money fixing it and having it off the road than actually riding it. Parts are a bitch to obtain and it will break down if you fail to maintain it. Also you will drop without a doubt so that nice black and red paintjob wont last long.

If I was you id go for the runner. Parts are common and there are far more people messing around with runners than speedfights so you wont have a problem looking for help. They are also quicker then the speedfights I belive.

No need to be harsh about something small Confused Especially when you said bike.

I don't have any experience on the DNA but I know it's a 50cc 2 stroke and this guy at my college has it. I think they're a bit ugly IMO.

I had a Speedfight 2, from new, and kept it 2years. TBH if your looking for a scooter, then i think you can do much better than a 100cc Speedfight. Mine was not very impressive even when tuned, i didn't rate the handling either, although as someone else has said the braking is ok.

If i were choosing a 125cc Scooter myself, i would look at the Aprilia SR125, as this is the best 125 2stroke scooter i have ever ridden in std form. If your not bothered about having a twist and go, then i think you could get a much better 125cc motorbike for the same money, and there is loads of choice of good secondhand 125's around, in all styles of machine.

I would probably also avoid an RS125 unless you are specifically looking for a sportsbike 125?

Pug 100 scooters can be raced and beaten by 50cc Pug scooters ( I proved this). They are a bit crap to be honest, as other people have said if it has to be scooter then Sr125 or similar.

Firstly, could i direct you here
www.scooterworldforum.co.uk
More likely to help you out if your thinking of scooters Smile

The peugeot speedfight really isn't that great, i really wouldn't bother, as bikerbanditz said, a 50 with a few trick bits will kill it Smile
Handle like crap too imo.

The runner is your best bet, LOADS of people tune them, but this is it's biggest drawback,
if you live in london, i can pretty much promise you that it will get stolen.
Very desirable to chavs..
especially if you have a 172 kit, aftermarket exhuast etc.

People say they handle like crap too....
they take a bit of getting used but i can get the footpegs on the ground most days Wink

Hope this helps

Ciarán

Fair point. I bought an automatic scooter to get used to driving on roads and I am now on a geared 125.

Cost of an RS 125 is too much, and DT's with knobbly tyres handle like crap.

Hence my £50 Gilera Runner.

I want rid of it.

but as bikerbanditz said, gotta start somewhere.

The problem with geared 50's is their too expensive. That's why it's easier to get a twist and go, then a 125.

I am quite lucky. I still have a 50cc scoot but also a Dt125. My cousin works on the rigs so I get to borrow it when he's away.

I still have my speedfight 100. Just making it tidy so I can sell it. Its low mileage too so it shouldnt be hard. To be honest I couldnt wait to get a geared bike after riding it for 6 months...
