Hi

If it is not cranking over then the first thing to check is the starter relay. This should have a trigger wire (which is triggered by the starter button) and 2 heavy duty wires, one to the starter motor and one to the battery.

Chances are that the trigger wire works by providing an earth when the starter button is pressed.

All the best

Keith

Just to be clear,

Bikes in neutral and the kill switch is in the run position. Have you tried pulling the clutch in when pressing the starter button? Is the battery fully charged? Turn on the headlight and press the starter, does it go dim or stay the same? Checked all the fuses?

Does the starter relay click when you press the starter button? If your not sure where it is then try looking around the battery area, it should have a fairly thick wires attached with one going to the starter motor.

If its not clicking then you need to get a multimeter to check the continuity of the start button wire feeding into the top of the relay.

Does the starter motor spin? If you check the starter button and it ok but the motor isn't spinning then a quick check is to short out the two thick wires on the relay. Just make sure the bikes not in gear etc and use jump leads if you have them. If is not spinning now then either the battery is knackered, the starter motor isn't earthed properly, starter is seized or the brushes have gone.

If it does spin then either the relay, starter button switch or in some cases, kill switch are knackered.

I hope it is not the starter clutch as it is a big job.Is it a case of the starter
turning but not turning the engine.Or is the the starter not turning.

Paddy.
