I want to get a newer MP3 player, like an ipod, but not (because everyone I seem to talk to say they are crap), I saw this earlier, any good:

https://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000F2BUPM.01._SS400_SCLZZZZZZZ_V59069910_.jpg

Basically im looking for something around £100, quite slim, like an ipod mini/nano with enough storage space for an average amount of music.

Many thanks

Get an iPod Nano. There is no substitute.

I have the 4GB model, and it's brilliant.

I've got an Archos one like this https://www.ciao.co.uk/Archos_Gmini_XS100_MP3_player_3_GB__6290242 except mine is silver not pink.

Bought it from Tescos, had it about 18 months, goes everywhere with me. I've found 3gb to be ample for my music needs (I just chop and change the albums on it from my total music collection which currently stands at about 8gb) and I love that it charges up via USB from any pc.

Battery life is reasonable and sound is good too. I sometimes run mine with external speakers and I've had no problems at all.

I have a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone.

It's a decent MP3 Player, 2mp camera and a mobile phone in one. Thumbs Up

The zen looks good, and smaller than the samsung, plus it has a radio which is good.

Thanks, I already have a k800i with a 1GB memory stick in it but i just dont like using it for mp3s (its full of photos anyway - theres only about 400mb of space left on the mem stick), plus the SE mp3 software is just clumsy and the headphones suck.

Ditto, W810i I think.

It's fantastic, the radio is also very clear.

I would also vote for the ipod nano.

When I bought it about a year ago I also looked at the wide range of alternatives but in the end the ipod made sense weighing up useability, price and memory size compared to others.

I use mine for about 4hrs a day commuting for a year so far and it hasn't fucked up yet.

Saw a wicked little Samsung today for £120, 2GB flash memory and a speaker which slides out of the back. Gimmicky and overpriced but I love it. Laughing

Honestly I'd go for the iPod, or wait for that Sony Jon mentioned to come out if you want a new phone too.

They reviewed that on the gadget show last week and said it was really good. I can't remember the other ones they looked at but may be worth a peek on their web site.

But I vote ipod too. Very pleased with mine. Thumbs Up

I have a 20Gb Sony NW-HD3 player...great sound quality (ditch the supplied headphones though for something better) although like most mp3 players it doesnt recreate bass particularly well. Credit card sized as well as fine looking unit. Highly recommended. Just dont use the supplied music organiser and transfer package - you can get a smart little utility that you store on the device itself so you can transfer tunes from any pc.

I also have a Sony Ericcson Walkman 850i phone - quite impressed although only stores 1Gb of files. Great for when I'm on the bike though as the earbud cable has a mic on it so I can listen to the music when riding and if a call comes through I can answer it automatically and talk as I ride. Music comes back on automatically when the call ends. Thumbs Up

I've got a 20gig creative zen touch in in the car. I'm very pleased with that. My G/f has a philips 6320 which looks great, but give you ocd as you are forever cleaning the screen on it!!.

do you want video aswell?
just got one of these, cheap little thing but works well.
https://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1884

get it cheaper here
https://www.datakits.co.uk/store/sumvision-kpac-black-2gb-mp3-mp4-player-with-22-tft-display-p-2771.html?osCsid=e671f1fb843f9dfab773afaf7e4d4b3a

people will always say that they have always had ipods in the past and that it's the only thing they'll ever buy but so many folks i know have gone through at least 3 ipods, don't need to wonder why.
it's cos they're over advertised rubbish made in the same places as the cheaper mp3/4 players and most folks don't seek an alternative, it's a shame because there are so many better units out there for less money Rolling Eyes
