Hi,

Trying to install some headlight brackets on my aftermarket-faired GS500E.

Hmmmz gave me the tip of just loosening the clamps and sliding the forks downwards to mount the brackets,

Are these the two clamp nuts I need to loosen before I slide the forks down? Is there anything else?

Cheers,

T

Yep - just watch you don't end up with the bike sat on it's engine Smile

Edit - I'm not entirely sure what it is you're trying to do, but consider if you can simply remove the top yolk (loosen upper pinch bolts you have circled plus remove the big nut at the top of the steering pivot) without loosening the pinch bolts on the bottom yolk. It'll be a lot easier to handle.

Ah ok, I just wasn't sure whether the top yoke would lift off or not

It'll usually just lift off with a bit of grunting and shoving. Make sure there is no load on the front wheel (i.e. it's not in the air and the bike isn't resting on it) so the front end does not flex when you pull the yolk off. That way it'll pop right back on without too much further grunting and shoving.

Agree with Finpos on this one. If you can get the top yolk off without too much trouble then go for it. Just not sure how the ignition switch and clocks are fitted Confused

If your planning on sliding the foks down then you are still going to need to jack up the front of the bike and probably remove the calipers , wheel, and speedo drive cable, if fitted, to give you enough room.
