[X-Posted from The Midlands Forum]

Lo all

I had a phonecall at 07:55 this morning (30th Nov 2006), from alex_t's mum.

Unfortunately, alex_t has been killed in an accident, involving his bike.

His mum didn't give me any details (time/date etc) as she was understandly distraught - and doing the hard job of going through his mobile phonebook letting people know.

He lived in Hednesford, and had been riding around on an SV650 last time I saw him. If anyone knows his family and girlfriend, pass on my condolences.

Bugger.

[EDIT]
I've put a thread up in Biking News (unless it's moved). It contains a link to a site you can donate £5.00 or £10.00 - and vote on how you'd like it donated - either a wreath, or to one of two charities Alex supported.

The thread is :

Crying or Very sad

Can't say I knew him on the forum, but it's always awful news when we lose a fellow biker. RIP Sad

What the hell's going on at the moment? Is it me or are there more accidents than usual? I'm laying a friend to rest tomorrow who was killed by some bint in a car, and I just wish it would stop Sad

Seemed to have posted a bit in the Midlands forum, but not for a while. Probably busy enjoying his bike after passing DAS in the summer. He posted a pic in the "You and your bike" thread.

RIP and condolences to the family.

I spoke to alex several times on msn, lovely lad....loved his sv

He works round the corner from where i live, and would have been on his way home. Have gone to take flowers today, but can't find anymore there and not sure exactly where it was. Here is what was written about it.

Rider, 21, may have had heart attack

A young motorcyclist died, believed from a heart attack in one of two accidents... a34 between weeping cross and brocton was closed after the motorcycle, apparently out of control, collided with three other vehicles yesterday afternoon. He was named as Alex Thomas, a 21 year old man from Hednesford. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two land ambulances and a senior paramedic response vehicle attended the scene, aswell as a passing off duty doctor. The rider was taken to Staffordshire General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The accident happened shortly before 4:45p.m and the road remained closed for several hours as police accident investigation team examined the scene.

mr_pete, when you hear of the funeral arrangement, can you let me know please?

Ride with the angels alex Karma

I would, but his (possibly parents) house is ex directory. I have SMSd his mobile (which his mum must have been using) to try and pass on the wishes, but I think it's now off.

Will post if anything changes.

[EDIT]

I have phoned the local Police, and left a message for the family liason officer to ask if the family would like the messages passed on, and/or accept a wreath/card.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.

That seems like a nice thought. I think a BCF wreath would be nice if the family want it. Might be an idea to move this to the general thread and sticky it.

I'm pretty new here so if this is against policy feel free to shoot me down. But it feels right, somehow.

I assume most of us can Paypal some cash towards what the family want.

I used to think winter should have less accidents as few riders are on road, plus early darkness helps (as people see the headlights)! Guess not! Be careful!

May have been a heart attack though dew =/

Yea, I'm up for a wreath.. I got 5 quid sitting in a paypal account - it isn't much but I never use so I can give you that.

And the bit about riding with the angels was a very nice line. Smile

I'd like to see "Ride with the angels" on the the bcf wreath.

RIP.
