As some of you may know I recently tried to de-restrict my NSR. And you may know that I've had considerable trouble.
Well, today me and my Dad went for a ride up to Mission Motorcycles from Bedford. Anyway he was in front, on his 97' Ninja, and I was behind on my NSR. We were going about 60mph. So we're just going along and suddenly my bike starts to feel more powerful. So I whacked open the throttle and flew past my dad! Going along about 70mph I was in such disbelief that my bike was in fact fully de-restricted that my dad returned the favour
And on the way back I actually managed 90mph with the wind against me! Now that was scary!
While I was at Mission I enquired about a second-hand 600. Me and the bloke chatted for a while and he suggested maybe an SV 650 for a first 600. Is this a good choice? Considering I have a year's experience on a ped and roughly 6-8 months on an NSR.
Cheers,
Will |

congrats wblake
What was it that gave you troubles? was it an import? if so how was it restricted? i've just found my import has a ring welded half way down the exhaust system, and i'm taking it to be cut out on wednesday - and just hoping that is the only restrictor (cant find any more!).
Anyway, SV650s are nice bikes - they are cheap for how much bike you get, and they have the bonus of being semi-unfaired (which will mean much lower insurance, and lower repair bills if the unthinkable happens). I have not rode one, but they look very nice! |

mine didn't feel all that pokey this morning.
I thought i might not have adjusted the throttle cable correctly.
(restriciting it opening up the carb further)
then i realised i didnt screw in the spark plug (only hand tight,,,and trust me thats not that tight.)
oh and the SV650 would be my next bike after the NSR if i had the money.
But chance's are i won't, so an RGV could be a nice option... ____________________ Regards

if you get an SV650, stick an akrapovic end can on there, sounds very similar to a ducati 748 with terms!! hehe, easily mistaken if waiting round a corner and aint seen the bike yet
the bike itself is pretty cheap aswell, i was thinking of getting the sv as a commuter and then boring it to 750 like PB did!! and straight bars! |
