Hi all,

I've just signed up in the hope someone will be able to help me out with a task i have been given.

A family friend recently passed away and their relatives have asked me to see if i can sell some motorbike blueprints etc - i've no idea of it's worth.
There are a number of items to sell all related to the "Edmund - Adjustable spring frame" Motor Bicycle first builtin 1911 i believe. There is marketing, reviews, a proper blue print and some other particulars - i can post more details if you like.

The relative told me this - "Charles Edmund Holaway, engineer, designer, pilot in the 1st WW. My great uncle on my mother´s side. Prototype assembled in the basement of his family home in Chester. It was produced and marketed but I don´t know in what quantity. He was shot down in the early part of the war."

Firstly, does anyone know anything about old bikes or if not would anyone be able to tell me where to look or ask? And secondly, does it have any value - i imagine it does but what? Should i be looking to sell it somewhere like Ebay or a specialist?

Well, can't help you with the actual query, but hang in there: there are a few people here who might be able to shed some light on this.

Kickstart seems to know everything about every bike ever built, so he might have some ideas. The ShaggyDA, I believe, is quite knowledgeable about older bikes, too.

Also, have a look at the National Motorcycle Museum website, as they seem to have some useful links there, and of course, you can contact them directly. They, quite possibly, would be interested in the blueprints, but might not be able to buy them.

^^^^ agreed, give them a call. They will be able to help you further as like all museums there is a lot more 'in the back' out of view of the public, in the form of documents, reports, archives etc. Sure they could shed some light on them for you.

The museum is big into conferencing and has lots of very large suites, banquet halls etc. This is where they make most of their money to fund the collection. You never know, it might be just what they have been looking for and they will pay for it if they want it.

Hi Nick, I asked for you on another forum I go on and was told this:

The National Motorcycle Museum would probably also be interested but if they want to sell 'em, auction may be best as God knows how he/she could put a value on them.
My gut feeling is that they're not worth an awful lot, very limited market, but they may get a hundred or two ? Who knows.....
