Done the theory for car licence, passed first time, only hope I can do the same for my bike test which is on thursday. Though I have been getting a few problems with some questions, mainly the ones about specific bike questions..and certain crossings.

Here's a couple that got me last time I done a example test:

12)
Mark 1 answer:
What must you do before stopping normally?

a) Put both feet down
b) Select 1st gear
c) Use your mirrors
d) Move into neutral

(I wasn't sure so i flagged this and went back to it later, I think i put C.. but sorta remembering a ADI instructor saying d..though can't be definite..)

18)
Mark 3 answers
A wrongly-adjusted drive chain can;

a) Cause an accident
b) make wheels wobble
c) create a noisy rattle
d) affect the gear changing
e) cause a suspension fault

(This really got me, so I changed from a,c,d. To a,b,d. Though when I ended the test I realised I shouldn't have changed, though of this I'm still slightly worried about these kind of questions..

note: can anyone give me some more examples similiar to 18, which might give a novice rider some challenges to answer.

many thanks,

dd

BEFORE stopping normally, you'd need to check your mirrors.
(You wouln't normally have both feet down when you stop, because you'll be taught to cover your rear brake with your right foot.
You also wouldn't select 1st gear until you're ready to pull away AFTER you've stopped.
and you'd only put it into neutral once you've already stopped)

Can cause an accident (if the chain is so loose that it flies off, and either locks the rear wheel or makes contact with the riders legs etc)
Creates a noisy rattle (again, particularly if the chain is loose)
Can cause a suspension fault, I believe, if the chain is too tight, which would effectively lock out the suspension.

Hope this helps Wink

Thanks Dazbo666. Though 18 was a,c and d. I guess the chain wrongly adjusted might cause some trouble with the gear changing but then I don't exactly know hence.

I know on Thursday a few questions will catch me out and thats what I'm afraid of.

Explainations are definitly what the bsm cd lacks and I haven't really found any other theory guides that have this either..

shame it really would help.

Again thanks for the reply Dazbo666 Smile

No problem. Thankfully I don't think I had that question in my theory test...
but I was having a rear tyre repaired just last week, and the mechanic happened to mention about the possibility of locking out the suspension if the chain was too tight. Thumbs Up

(By the way, the DSA theory test book actually does include some explanations and reasons for the answers. I tried to double check all the answers for you, but my brother-in-law has borrowed my copy cos he's planning on doing his test in the new year)

passed, thankgod thats over. Strange tho I think I remember having like 1 question that was similiar to my mock tests.. lol.

Quite pleased with result 34 on theory

and 65 on hazard preception.. I was well worried in that test, I clicked on the mouse and it didn't show for a few seconds, thought I'd right cocked it up.

Now just will have to get some lessons in and then on for a DAS.. or should I just go out and do a DAS.. ???
