Rang Carole Nash first thing this morning to add my new bike to my policy, shouldn't be a problem, one of the reasons I chose this policy was because I could add up to 4 more bikes to it within the year with no admin charge just an extra premium payment.

I am currently waiting for a call back from them as my bike does not appear on their database. Sad They go by make/model/year so even me having the registration number doesn't help. I haven't got the full docs yet as Himself is going up some time today to pay the balance and collect the bike and paperwork.

I was just wondering if anyone else had found themselves in this position, and what happened? I suspect that they're going to charge me an arm and a leg to add it to my policy because of its "rarity value"......... Sad

when i was looking at getting a chinese import gy200 to use for a commuter, i checked out insurance. those things are a pain to insure. a company came back with £450tpo. i told them they must be joking as it costs me less to insure my cbr400 TPFT.

Bit late, but I've never had a problem with any of my imports.

Still phone around for the best deal though.

My wife passed her CBT a few weeks ago, so we bought her a CB125T indian import. My usual broker had some trouble finding an insurance co who would take it, and eventually came back with £195, which I didn't think was too bad for a new rider, even if she is mid thirties.

Another company who 'specialise' in motorbike insurance, took all the details and gave me a quote for about £40 less, which I accepted, but then about three hours later came back saying they couldn't find it on their system. so they couldn't insure it! Back to my broker who sorted it straight away.

I can only conclude that insuring imports costs more in time and money, and are more hassle to sell. I will avoid them in future.
