Riding in the dark when raining

Does anybody else have a problem seeing through the visor in dark and wet conditions? especially with headlights from oncoming cars.

Is there anything i can do to improve vision in these conditions.

Lifting the visor.. thats what i do anyways.. also contact lenses.. and a big funkoff faring helps allot too, and make sure your light are adjusted for the right height (and are clean) being able to pick the road edge and lines out is what prevents you meeting a grisley end.

Its not very nice so i dont tent to go out if its peeing it down at night where i can avoid it.. (said that i have done ALLOT of rideing in that sort of condition, it does get less worrying but its still a pain, and you can't be sure it wont start pishing it down anytime here in the uk)

Yep, its a bit like driving a car with knackered windscreen wipers under the same circumstances. I'm not sure what will help you as I try to avoid riding in the rain when its dark because its not that nice to do. Thats why I have an ST170 Focus as well as my R6!

There are coloured visor inserts that supposedly help with night conditions... If you are going over 30... try tilting your head forward, i usually find an angle whereby the wind pushes the rain drops over or under the visor...

Theres not really alot you can do if I can't see where I'm going because of the rain on my visor and oncoming traffic. I just open my visor till theres less traffic coming.

It's a complete nightmare and has took me scarily close to a grisly demise on more than a few occassions, namely about 20 minutes ago! There's nothing that can solve it, I have tried pretty much everything.

On a few of those "Funkin shiit i think i'm gonna be killed" situations ive fliped the high beam on, annoying to other drivers yes but it think 230kg of bike in their windscreen would spoil there evening even more..
This means you can pick out the edges e.t.c. get a better bearing on where you are on the road, i dont do it often, and if its that bad i'll pull up if i can till its calmed down a bit, thats twice in 3years of allyear rideing mostly at night..

If your lucky enough not to need glasses you can have the visor half up and aim so you can see but dont get so much rain in the face, if its only a bit of rain i tend to have it all the way up, dont really bother me anymore..

Rain-X is a waste of time it makes no discernable difference, it may do some good on a glass windscreen but it does nothing on my visor. The only thing to do is take it easy and concentrate.

Just looked at the back of the bottle, doesn't mention not using on plastics. It does say avoid contact with eyes so no using on contact lenses!

I wear Halcyon goggles as you can not fit a visor to a pudding basin, they are just as bad as a visor though
All I can recommend is dabbing away with a glove one eye at a time. Some types of rain seem worse than others, very small drops like we had in Brum tonight are the worse.

Take a piece of super soaker sponge and fix to the index finger of your glove with a tie, and use it to clear the rain drops on the visor, if the rain is really bad you will have to squeeze it out, but ut does work relatively well.

Biggest factor is the condition of your visor, you need to make sure it is spotless with no scratches. If you have one that looks like its been cleaned with sand paper, all you will get is starbursting when a car comes towards you in the dark. In the wet it will be as bad as closing your eyes.

Riding in London traffic in the dark and rain ranges from unpleasant to extremely unpleasant! If you're filtering then I tend to lift the visor up, and slow down until the rain's not blinding me. I occasionally wipe the visor with my forefinger & that clears it for about 30 seconds!

Nikwax Visor Proof works well for me. The rain just beads off, so all's fine and dandy even if it's tipping down; nothing more irritating than having to wipe the visor with your finger every few seconds.

a lot of my 1400 road miles have been at night over the last month, its horriable with the rain as well, all i can do is slow down and keep wiping my visior. looking away and following edge of road only way i can think off when im riding to keep me safe!

I've never really had problems driving in the rain at night...

But what does drive me mad is those damned drivers that go around 24/7 with their headlights on full beams. What's the point?!

Do they think they are some kind of angelic entity enlightening the road for the next three miles???

Or are they making sure they're visible from space in case the Beagle decides to land anywhere near them?
