 |
|
My neighbour had been on holiday for weeks and left his car in the drive to our flats. Normally I park just to the side of him so he can reverse to manouver out, but parking was a bit tight on Friday so I decided to go behind his car. I thought he's away so it doesn't matter and if he does come back he'll have the sense to come and ask me to move it.
I go upstairs to my flat to make my dinner, look out the window to see my bike flat on the ground and the idiot moving his car forward! He had reversed into it so the bike stood up and the spring loaded side stand sprung up, then when he moved forward he lowered/dropped it onto the ground.
Damage: snapped clutch lever, bent gear changer, and scraped bar end.
It is more or less rideable using two fingers on the clutch but the gear shifter is difficult to use and I have real trouble getting into first gear.
Amazingly 3X have the parts in stock so hopefully I will change them tomorrow.
Amazing bad luck - one year at that flat, and no problems, my neighbour goes away for weeks and the one time I park behind him is the night he comes back!
When I picked the bike up there was petrol on the ground. Is that anything to worry about? ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |

Wouldn't have thought the fuel was a problem - bikes tend to 'bleed' when they fall over - its a sad sight - Im sure they cry too!!! lol ____________________ Love is 1050cc |

Believe that falls in to the category of Sods law mate
The petrol is nothing to worry about, it simply comes out of the float bowls/overflow etc when on its side.
I assume the neighbor is paying for the damage. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

The petrol is nothing to worry about. But, it will eat away at your tarmac on the drive. Best to hose it off. But if you rent the flat who cares? |

He says he's going to pay. I'll make sure he does.
The clutch lever is about £12, and the gear shifter is about £40. I'm just hoping that the only problem with the gears is the shifter getting caught and that there's not a deeper problem with getting into 1st gear. We'll see.

Oohh, my clutch lever and gear shifter arrived today! Next day delivery! That brings my average wait for Cagiva parts down to about three weeks! ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |
