I don't think not wanting to take your helmet off has anything to do with manners. It's good manners to open a door for someone, but would you be so quick to do it if the ordered you to?

Hey, sorry for no update here... I made a seperate thread for it.

In summary, The manager called me on the third day (She had only come in that day) to let me know she would be investigating it. Apparently this security guard denied calling me a dickhead and also says the police escorted me from the station (Also not true), so he's obviously scared shitless right now.

I'll phone up the store now to see if I can get a definitive answer.

I have a bigger problem with the ones that make you get off the bike before switching the pump on.... I lose out on £2-3 quids worth of fuel and means I have to stop more often.

I also avoid garages that make me remove my helmet - can't they understand it is an inconvienence and causes queues at the pumps?

They wouldn't make a Muslim remove a veil or ask people to remove hats etc.

Perhaps if the companies bothered to talk to bikers and understand our situation, they might make things easier. For example, if they provided a shelf for safe storage of my lid while filling then great! If they had free visor wipes to go with it - fantastic!

Obviously this will never happen....

And as for the garages not caring about a minority group of cutomers - well, during the summer months, you trying to tell me that garages don't see increased revenue? And I wonder how much that comes from bikes. How many car drivers spend £40 per day on fuel? (which is what I average on a long rideout in summer)

Pay at pump is the way forward for bikers

The only thing that can be done is to avoid those garages we know cause us problems.

I have even had some garages try and tell me that it is illegal to fill your bike while sitting on it!

I always fill up at Asda, like always, as you just put your card in the pump and enter your pin, you don't have to bother with an attendant, you don't have to leave your bike, take helmet off etc.

Its much easier, do it in the car also, plus the petrols the cheapest (I know might not be the best).

I once read an article somewhere saying that bikers are the new chavs with their constant lid issue in petrol stations. The paper said that us bikers are being compared to these scum of britain due to us leaving our lids on when walking around. ie petrol stations and at cash points, shops etc,etc. Its was called the new hoodie. It really pissed me off as they stated it was considered anti social behavior. Fucking Journalists

the person behind the till would maybe like u to take helmet off, to prove u r not going to get to the till then stick a gun in there face,

personaly i think it a load of sh*t as most stations have numberplate readers or cctv that they can get your reg from as for everyone's security thats load fo turd as i can fill up from one esso station and have to take my lid off but then i can go three miles down the road to another esso station and not bother it not company polacy it just the staff been a pain in the back side all i do if im asked to take my lid off is take my time putting it back on i take about ten mins just to piss them off lol i was asked by one station if i could move my bike as i was takeing that long to put my lid back on i told them were to poke it lol

I hardly ever take off my helmet and when I don't nobody asks me to remove it and are very friendly. If I do remove it I have to remove my gloves and ear plug aswell as putting it all back on taking up to two minutes; which I cannot afford to do when in a rush.

fuelled at 2 stations (Tesco and Shell) Neither battered an Eyelid.

My dad in his 306 however was pulling his grey hair out as i got away with putting a fiver in knowing i'll get 60 miles from it where as his 32 pound will do him about 300.

Been to 1/2 dozen stations and never been asked to take my helmet off.

I suppose as soon as I lift the visor up and they see my honest looking mug they realise I'm gonna pay.
