Helmet Cameras

Hi, I'm looking got get a Bullet Camera for Christmas, bought for me by parents.

I wasn't sure whether a Bullet Camera and Helmet Camera were the same thing.

Basically I'd like one that attaches to my Helmet, but can be put anywhere else on the bike if I wanted a certain view like forks compressing, rear wheel and stuff.

I'd prefer a wireless one if possible. I seem to remember reading on here about one that doesn't need plugging into a video camera, will record on an SD card and once inserted into a computer will show the videos you've made.

Can anybody point me in the right direction of one, as I'm not sure of what to search for on eBay or anything.

I've got an ATC-2000 which is a self contained unit.

It's not that light and quality isn't very good.

When I get the chance, I post up some sample videos.


So, for a bullet/helmet camera (pretty much the same thing), you're going to have to go for a 'wired' solution really with a remote recorder. I believe the electrics of the bike interferes with the wireless system.

The problem being, that I don't have a Video camera.

My Dad's digital camera has video facilities though.

It's a "Canon Powershot A430 4.0 Mega Pixels".

Can I use a Bullet camera with that?

If it as a av lead in then yeah you should be able to use it, but it wont record the sound as the bullet cam doesnt have a built in mic, just an external wire.

Wireless bullet cams are moderately common, however as mentioned, quality is questionable with interference.

The camera in the link above only does 15fps and should cost about £60-£70 I believe. Avoid - they have chosen a very specific sort of scene for their video that won't show up the problems with the video - with not much 'real' movement - ie plain green at the sides, a car infront at about the same position etc.

If not, hope to have a selection of helmet cameras sorted for muddy stuff next weekend - so hopefully get footage from a selection of cameras going along the same route on different people.
