I've been meaning to write this up for some time but to be completely honest I've either been putting it off, or just forgotten about it.
This happened a good while back in August (25th to be exact, which was my 18th birthday). At the time, I was still riding a TZR125...
Anyway, I'd spent the day riding around seeing various people and as the day was drawing to a close I was about to make the obligatory trip down the local pub to meet my mate Paul.
Parked my bike, disc locked it and went into the pub. I'd been sat down for literally 5 freakin' minutes and an old woman sat at a nearby window said "Excuse me, is that your bike?"
I darted to the window to see two hooded youths around it, one holding the handlebars and another trying to lift the back wheel (the disk-locked one) off the ground. I ran out there like a bolt of lightning and roared OI at the little scrotes.
One of them bolted one way, one went the other. As they went, they pushed my bike over onto it's side. Out of fury, I chased after the one that had run closer to me, and got pretty close to him before he turned around.
"You want blows, bruv? Huh? You want some blows?" (I shit you not, he was talking like this).
It actually turned out to be the younger brother of a kid I knew in High school. Both him and his brother were well known in the area as trouble-makers. I told him to piss off and went back to my fallen bike (Broken clutch lever, indicators and mirror).
When I got back the little testicle slithered back over to me and started saying all kinds of utter bullshit to me.
Ranging from the usual
"I'll back yoo out now, bruv!"
to the completely bizzare
"This ain't even yur bike anyway, dis is my mates!" (Bull-fucking-shit)
Paul's mum, who was at the pub had rung the police but we had to put up with this little shit's abuse for nearly an hour, the only reason he eventually ran off with his mates was because a fire engine went down a nearby road and they heard the sirens. The entire fucking hour he was right in front of my face, and I couldn't do fuck all.
I could have smacked him, but that probably wouldn't have been the best idea... I mean it was my 18th birthday, that means I was open to a whole new world of legalities that probably would have ended with me being in a lot of shit if I had touched him. And also, his older brother (who knows me) is a pretty scary guy. Call me a chicken-shit if you want, but I don't fancy having my house torched in the middle of the night.
Anyway, the reason I posted this now is because the police actually phoned me yesterday and asked me to come down and make a statement about what happened. The officer did make it seem like they're actually going to do something about this little bastard. He did mention getting me compensation for the damage to my bike but I didn't keep any of the receipts, and the damage was only about 20 quid anyways...
Anyway, had to agree to the usual "are you willing to take this to court" to which I said yes...
Argh...
Guess I just wanted to vent out a bit. I'm glad the police are actually doing something but it still doesn't make up for them not arriving at all on the night, being that we were there for well over an hour, this cunt could have gotten violent at any second. ____________________ Yamaha YB100 | Yamaha TZR125 | Yamaha XJ600S | Suzuki GSF600

I've been in a similar situation and took a beating for someone else.
I was meant to make a statement about the kids who took my mates bike, i knew them, there were no bother to me, but they didnt like my mate. Tricky situation, i saw the guys on it 30 mins after it was taken.
Well, was more of an embaressment for the guy because his mates stood aroud and bet a fiver he couldn't knock me out.
I stood there and took it, all eight punches, last three to the back of my head.
Adrenaline kicked in and i said, "You punch like a girl..." They walked off, probably to do more cocaine.
I'd be careful who you stitch up, the police aren't your protection, as much as they bullshit you into thinking it. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

i would of smacked him regardless, he was touching the bike.
i put up with similar sh1t in my area, one lad came with his crooks one night and got half-way down the garden with my ped b4 a neighbour stopped him, by shouting at him, then they legged it, luckily we had CCTV, so i had proof of the little cnut, next morning still in the rage , went round there and warned him of violence by the scruff of his scrawny neck, opinions not warranted, was over a year ago, but would do more if it happened again.
i would still claim compo, this makes sure they know you won't stand for it, hitting them where it hurts, in the wallet.
(who cares if they don't get that nice new pair of trainers/cap/top that their mates also wear?)
i could never stand an hour of scum like that intimidatin me soooooo much, even on my 18th, he still tried tnick the bike and 'sorry officer, i was under sooo much stress having just witnessed my pride 'n' joy being 'invaded' by known trouble makers'
surely he would be done for attempted TWOC.........

i see your point and sympathise for you, i didn't think at the time i mentined above, but in my area, violence is the only way of making your self acknowledged as someone who will not be walked over, i fight my battles but would be very hesitant about doing owt when the suspect(s) in question know the address of relatives, good luck with it all but round here, i know who everyone is, and what they are capable of, i don't consider myself 'hard or a wimp' but don't take the locals' shit.

As long as you dont hit first your allright, even though i probably wouldnt keep my cool and would hit first.
I took a kick-in from a group of about 8 chavs a year or two back now, wasnt over a bike they were just drunk and started a fight.
There was me, a mate and a cun* who i thought was a mate. They started on my mate and i said just carry on walking and ignore them, but the cun* decided he was gunna shout at them to grow up and give them a load of gob back. Wise choice dic* head. Anyway as we was walking he got pulled aside and was being pushed a bit a punched, i turned round to my mate and said if he gets knocked to the ground were gunna have to help him, sods law he gets knocked to the ground.
I run over and start punching the little fuckers one by one, took out the main two, first bloke hit the floor and other bloke as i was hitting him i was knocked on the floor from behind. I was kicked in the head and body several times, managed to pull myself out and i had a blackeye and the side of my head was swallen up and bleeding from a cut under my eye, not to mention i was brused all over my body.
I called the police and the two main ones that i had got both had cuts and bruses from me and stayed in the same place that it had started, plus there was two witnesses and CCTV. So the little shits got done for it and goes to show if you dont make first punch, even though technically i did as i went to help a "mate" they still got done. I got some compensation and one of them would have got a sentence of somesort, not sure what though. Felt sore for a few days but was over the moon that i hit the little shits.
Oh and my mate i took a kickin for so he could get out, he had slight bruse on his face and told everyone in college that we had run of. The things i wanted to do to him. ____________________ My Bike Pics |

You should have just arrested him yourself for criminal damage then if he resisted you can use minimum force to detain him, and the more he struggles to get away the more force you can use, then the police could have had him on resisting arrest aswell ____________________ We're all just born to die. This is a difficult situation, but after thinking for a while about it, i think you did the right thing. If your bike had actually been stolen, then you could quite rightly have gone on a head hunt.
The thing is that you have decided to use the Police approach, which is often worth trying, to see how far thay will take it, and what result this will get ultimately. If you don't get compensation and or the little shit gets away with it, then you can try a different approach. If they fine him, and order him to pay you compensation, then that might hurt him some more.
The thing about your family is a difficult issue, but you obviously can't do anything to risk their safety, if you really think that this little shit's big brother would take things that far?
I personally would go and see the kids brother, and have a chat to him about his little shit of a brother. You could even tell him that you are prepared to drop everything, if he makes the little twat apologise or pay for the damage. If the bloke is unreasonable, then just tell him that you have asked him to tell his little brother to stay well away nicely, and if he comes back again you will have no choice but to fuck him up!
That could be a risky thing to do, but if the guy knows your really serious, then he just might make sure his brother stays away from you and your bike in future. |
