ah. splendid
this was originally reported in the Mail on Sunday this week.
I'd take it all with a pinch of salt though - it says "Backbenchers have written to the independent body which sets their salary" which means that at least two low-ranking MP's have made the request. The bbc paints a slightly more objective view:
https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4496440.stm
it's still my opinion that MP's should not be permitted any financial interests other than their salary and that their authority shouldn't be any more than that of a senior civil servant. A member of parliament is only there to execute the wishes of their constituents - not to legislate how they think other people's lives should be run.
The problem that we have is that parliamentary reform can only be put in place by those in parliament, and they're hardly likely to go ahead and cut their own throats: Somebody else has to do that for them. |

Thanks for finding that link for me Rob, I couldn't remember where it is and I love a good politician-bashing thread so I had to make sure we re-opened it
SO uhh yeah...
100k? Those greedy bastards. They can shove it up their asses, as long as there's no one in the way trying to wipe it for them. ____________________ Yamaha YB100 | Yamaha TZR125 | Yamaha XJ600S | Suzuki GSF600

Parasitic scum filth and vermin. They want to pad their salaries so that no financial legislation will ever affect them. Road pricing? "Har har, I'm paid so much I wouldn't notice the bill even if I was to drive 24/7/50 fucking 2".

Old Thread Alert!
