NCB stands for No Claims Bonus. You are claiming on your insurance. I'll leave you to figure it out.

It does seem unfair I admit. Maybe losing half the NCB would be fairer. Sorry to hear about the bike.

Sorry... but it's a no claims bonus, not a no blame bonus. If you have a claim, you lose the bonus. In the case of an accident with more than one party involved then the person at fault will typically lose their bonus because the claim for both parties comes off their insurance (though it often isn't that simple) but in a case of a theft like this, it's your policy so you lose your no-claims. That's what your insurance policy was there for in the first place.

I'm presuming you have TPFT or Fully Comp insurance then as if it was TPO then you wouldn't be able to claim for a stolen bike. Or did you not realise that either? Laughing

One thing to stress though, is that you don't necessarily lose all your no-claims. Typically you'll lose a couple of years' worth, so if you had 4 or 5 years of NCB you don't go back to square one again. Well... not unless you have another claim or two.

You could always pay for NCB protection, then you wouldn't lose it.
