SORN

Hi, i declared my old Yamaha TZR125 as sorn towards the end of August, I have today recieved a letter telling me to pay a £40 fine.

The annoying thing is, I have misplaced my SORN letter that I recieved .

I know its my fault for losing the letter, but is there anyway I can prove that it was declared as SORN so I don't have to pay the fine?

I would think all hope is lost..the system stinks and it's likely down to you to prove you attempted to SORN the bloody thing.

i know how you feel, when i scrapped my first ped over 2 years ago, i sent logbook back to DVLA, then 2 months ago, got a fixed penatly type thing through post after not failing to sorn it etc, how could i sorn it when i sent the logbook off as scrapped?

they are not happy when they are not pulling your wallet apart....

Send the piece of paper they have asked you to send but do not fill it in apart from the vehicle registration/SORN part, don't fill any of the bit's relating to the fine.

Attatch a note saying that you sent off your SORN letter originally by post and therefore have no way to proove that it had been sent. Ask them if they could please clarify what to do next as you feel the fine is unfair due to you having declared the vehicle as SORN.

If you definitely received a letter back acknowledging you for sending the SORN in then they should have a record of sending that letter to you. Don't tell them that you have lost it, just inform them that you SORN'd it properly and that they acknowledged the fact by sending you the confirmation letter.

ive tried finding my bike on their online service and it doesn't state the bike as being sorn.

but the way the letter is worded im not sure anything will work, as it states that they have checked their records.

post the letter they sent you with the fine on back to them , itll confuse them abit

The letter I know of was along the line's of this, quite aggressive and putting the blame on everyone else but yourself.

i've updated it, ermmm. i am going to enclose my SORN declaration form as well as the letter they sent with information on the fine.

do i have to fill in the back of the letter wher it ses "your statement"? as i have no dates to put into it as i don't have the proof.
